From the WSB Forums: Dog “ticket” warning; more free yoga

If you haven’t checked out the WSB Forums yet today, two items of note: “Smitty” says dog owners violating the law at newly renovated Hiawatha Playfield are being ticketed (read the post here); and there’s word of MORE free yoga, in addition to the Limber Yoga classes mentioned earlier – at SoundYoga (also a WSB sponsor), a free restorative-yoga class is happening at 1 pm (details here).

They might want to also consider ticketing dog owners that allow their dogs to run (and poop) off leash in the small fenced in field at the south side of the high school, corner of Handford and 42nd. The kids practice football on that field, and no matter how well you clean up after your dog, you don’t get it all. Bad bad.

i’ve seen far worse things in the grass than remnants of dog poo. how about cleaning up the used condoms and drugs/alcohol at the solstice park. how about the cops ticketing the people responsible for that?

Are dogs allowed in the grassy/wooded area that runs along California Ave? Its the buffer zone between the retaining wall and the track. Sometimes its nice to walk up there for a change if you have to go north or south.

A reminder is always needed, too, that dogs need to stay off beaches. I watched a golden retriever chase after a heron at Constellation Park recently and it made my blood boil. I understand the romance of watching your dog run free, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of the wildlife.

What’s the new law? Is is posted somewhere on-line? To me the artificial turf sometimes smells like tires or oil. I wonder if that will wear off.

People need to stop letting them run free to do their business on the grass in front of my lanai also. Take them for a walk and PICK UP after them.

I think we should ticket cat owners who let them outside without a leash.

Wow! We spend thousands of our tax dollars to rework the field… I am a dog owner, but it would not even occur to me to let my dog loose there. Ticket away!

Since we’re on the subject, how about the owners who let their dogs run free in Emma Schmitz park and poop. So nice to be hiking in the woods and step in a pile of dog poop. If you’re going to break the law, please run as fast as your dogs so you’re not conveniently ignorant to the fact that your dogs are pooping on the trail. I hate accidentally stepping in dog poop more than any other public annoyance. Oh and when you have grooved rubber soles…..yuck!!

Note: “Well, what about (unrelated things to what I want to do but get nailed for)?” has pretty much always failed to be a valid argument.

Yeah, maybe we should ticket loose ferrets and people who sharpen their pickaxes in public parks too, but you’re still responsible for your dog. Sorry.

Sorry, comment time is over.
