Update: Search for stabbing suspect in 5200 block of Delridge

Police and fire have responded to an “assault with weapons/aid” call in the 5200 block of Delridge [map]. We’re on our way to the area to check; scanner traffic indicates a search is on, no word who was hurt, how, or how badly, yet. 6:03 PM UPDATE: Also from the scanner, sounds like a stabbing incident – the victim is on the way to Harborview Medical Center; there was a question about whether the suspect also “was cut.” 6:25 PM UPDATE: The search is centering on the building that used to house a much-scrutinized “used goods” business that cleared out a few months ago. No indication yet of an arrest, or of specific circumstances. Adding a photo. Delridge traffic is NOT blocked at the scene but IS moving slowly, as you might expect. 6:30 PM UPDATE: Just spoke with an SPD sergeant at the scene; he summarized this as one male stabbing another in an argument over a female. They’re not sure yet what the weapon was, but they continue looking for the suspect – who, per the scanner, indeed apparently was also wounded. The victim, we’re told, was stabbed in the arm – not a life-threatening injury. 6:57 PM UPDATE: Don’t know how soon we will be able to confirm but scanner traffic indicates an arrest.

Thanks for that info. I just got home from work and saw cop searching the neighborhood with spot lights. guess the dog won’t get a walk anytime soon!

I live right around there, saw cops with flashlights looking in my car and others in the area and they asked me if I saw a male in trench coat and to call them if I did.

    Wow… what a shock…another Delridge incident.

Mebbe Donald Trump & our esteemed senator, the legal whiz, Maria Cantwell, can come out for the innocence of this perpetrator, as well…

that is, if she’s young, white, & pretty, &; has a family willing to shell out big bucks for a PR firm.

CB, that’s so inappropriate. There are THOUSANDS of good, hardworking people who live and work along Delridge.

There have been a sh*t-ton of crimes in Admiral lately. Should we say “wow what a shock, another Admiral incident?” Delridge has actually had LESS crime recently than many of the other areas in WS.

In other words, don’t be a jerk.

California SW (my street) has its fair share of crimes, God knows. And it may be shorter than Delridge. P.S. Sounds from the scanner like they just took somebody into custody.

Oh also, we do have an objective way to evaluate.

I will crunch these sometime soon – but anyone who has the time to look sooner, there’s the link. Now compiled at the precinct level thru the end of October, the index page indicates.

Does have anything to do with the fact that there are cops frisking someone in front of my house right now??? 26th ave????

    • WSB December 16, 2009 (7:40 pm)

NC, that’s where the arrest was reported, 26th SW.

I’m not real crazy about Seattle Joe’s assumption, too. The person you refer to lived in Arbor Heights, not exactly a bastion of multi-millionaires…just mostly regular working folk, like the rest of us.

Well after enjoying the light show provided by SPD and we could get out the driveway, we went up to the water tower on Charlestown and enjoyed that light show. If you haven’t been yet, do go. It was lots of fun. Oh and it’s at the house where the piano teacher was murdered years ago, nothing to do with the light show but just a side note to CB’s ignorance about Delridge.

Saw the victim sitting by the side of the road. I’d definitely agree with the “non-life threatening” description. He was sitting on the curb, talking with authorities and looked like maybe his upper arm was bandaged. He was able to walk under his own power to the ambulance.

CB, would you care to elaborate? Let’s see, last “Delridge incident” I read about here was a group of neighborhood residents had gotten together to clean up a local corner store and improve its food offerings….Maybe you mean the collection of toys for foster kids that’s going on at the neighbors’ over on 25th? Oh, and there’s that cookie swap happening this weekend. Maybe you’re referring to the new lady offering free tai chi classes? The neighbor lady across the street who just started hospice care and the next door neighbor who just announced her pregnancy? The immigrant family that bought the dilapidated “nuisance property” down the street and is fixing it up?…Those are the “Delridge incidents” I’ll focus on, thank you very much.

I own a home on Delridge and have never had an incident. I consider Delridge as a safer area in the city.

did anyone happen to know why the cops were cruising 26th between brandon a few blocks south, on Wednesday around 3am? There were also a ton of flashlights down the longfellow creek trail at that time right near the brandon south entry way, my backyard stairs right into that path…

Sorry, comment time is over.
