Belltown crash victim identified as West Seattle man

You may have seen the TV reports — like this one — about an emotional court hearing Monday for a man accused of hit-and-run for the crash that killed 30-year-old Jerome Dumlao as he walked across a Belltown street early Sunday. We have learned from one of his neighbors that Mr. Dumlao lived in West Seattle, and also drove a FedEx route in the area. The driver accused of killing him, who police say admitted to drinking before the crash, is in jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. 3:18 PM UPDATE: We have just heard from a friend who says there’s a memorial fund set up for Mr. Dumlao’s family – through Sterling Savings Bank in Ballard.

Condolences to Marie and the Dumlao family right now. Marie (Jerome’s wife) is such a sweet, genuine, and loving person and it is tragic that something like this happened.

Are there anymore facts in the case besides the SPD Blotter…cause the comments from the TV report don’t seem concrete. My friend knows Eric and since I live in West Seattle…I’m just really curious.

Marie says in one of the news articles that Jerome was intentionally run over.

In the comments section for the news articles on komonews.com, there are some comments stating what happened, but I don’t know at this time if they’re true or not so I don’t want to repeat. You can check it out if you’re interested.

    Hey Kara,

Here is a link where you can find the police document.

According to Eric’s own passenger it sounds like they were drunk and driving around yelling at pedestrians just before the incidents. Which to me is ‘looking for trouble’. Eric stopped his car to have an argument with Jerome then ran him over. It sounds like jail time for your friend’s friend.

Sorry, comment time is over.
