SODO traffic alert: Microsoft annual meeting tomorrow

So many West Seattleites travel through SODO, we’re passing along city traffic alerts for that area – like this one about the Microsoft annual meeting at The Safe tomorrow – read on:

Microsoft will hold its Annual Employee Meeting at Safeco
Field tomorrow, Thursday, September 10, from 11:00 a.m. to approximately
4:30 p.m. Approximately 20,000 attendees will be arriving by private
vehicles and some 200 charter buses.

In the morning the buses will exit I-5 via the Dearborn and Forest
Street off-ramps and will park at four locations north and south of
Safeco Field: Home Plate at First Avenue S and S Atlantic Street, Safeco
Field Garage Plaza just south of Edgar Martinez Drive and on the WOSCA
site on First Avenue S and S Royal Brougham Way. Private cars will exit
at the Fourth Avenue S off-ramp from I-5 and I-90 and will park
primarily at the Qwest Event Center Garage, the Safeco Field Garage and
the Union Station Garage. In the afternoon it is anticipated that all
buses and private cars will access I-90 via Edgar Martinez Drive.

The Seattle Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan on
congestion on the streets near Safeco Field between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00
a.m., and from approximately 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Seattle Police
Department officers will direct traffic through the area.

Please let it rain and may the retractable roof at Safeco Field get stuck in the open position…just kiddin’ Softies! You deserve a day in the sun.

I just wish they didn’t have to disband right in the middle of rush hour.

The economic stimulus for Safeco Field, Seattle PD and the local businesses is a good thing. Another example of how spending locally benefits the community.
Don’t forget to upgrade to Windows 7 and return the favor!

We produce WSB mostly on Macs but our kid has a PC with beta Win 7 that apparently will need to be upgraded soon :) Have a great meeting! – TR

So what city official idiot gave a street use permit on 99 for movie filming on the same day as this event? News Radio this morning stated that there will be rolling slowdowns at 9 and 3 because of that permit.

Microsoft is 11-4. Disbanding then is not “middle” of rush hour – more like beginning.

And some of the groups are going on to evening events in the downtown area.
