West Seattle (and vicinity) scenes: Low tide; sunrise; “Rangers”

Thanks for all the photos sent while we were away from the keyboard for a while doing a political interview for our ongoing election coverage! Don’t know who to credit for the low-tide cameraphone photo above – but, as mentioned in the West Seattle Weekend Lineup, today kicks off a run of minus tides, which “peak” with -3.6 on Sunday and Monday (in comparison, the low tide this morning was -1.1). Next – Charley Biggs sent a photo of this morning’s sunrise:

And from Marco – the city’s “Pothole Rangers” in action – not technically West Seattle, but see his explanation after the photo:

Not West Seattle, but a lot of us ride that way on our bikes: The Pothole Rangers are currently repairing the many potholes on the bike lane of E Marginal Way S.

So I just wanted to shout out a huge thank you to them (I did, when I rode past them, but I’m not sure they could hear me over their machines ;)

So together with the beautiful weather, this makes Bike Month an even bigger success!

Got pix to share? editor@westseattleblog.com any time – whether it’s a spectacular sunrise, a breaking-news story, a cool event at your child’s school … thanks!

I hope the pothole rangers migrate over to 1st Ave to fix all of the ones on that street! I reported the huge one at 1st & Forest a few days ago and nothing has been done about it, at least as of this morning. Regardless of the construction, the potholes from Spokane to Stacy are unacceptable so please email SDOT if you have time!

I noticed that many of the potholes along Alaska have been fixed or smoothed over. It’s made my ride much more pleasant.

I think the key is a quality repair job. I’ve seen some pothole “repairs” in other places where it looks like the repair went back to unrepaired.

OMG don’t get me started on potholes in SODO! I drive that way to work every day and it’s just absolutely horible. No matter which way I go. They’ve worked on a few of the rail crossings, which has been nice, but there are several that still need a lot of work. And Spokane St. is just ridiculous! The 1st Ave S. construction isn’t much better. Going north, I have to make sure I’m in the right lane because that one bump when I travel over it in the left lane makes me feel like my entire rear end is gonna drop out. My front suspension is absolutely ruined. Got a quote last time I went in for a tune up down at Alki Auto Repair, they highly recommend new shocks and struts, I’m looking at around $1200 easy, but should probably wait for some of this construction to finish up and some potholes to get fixed before I ruin my new suspension! Maybe the city can help pay for it!

Can you bill tne city for your repairs? I feel like I am on a obstacle course.

yeah, that’s what I was suggesting… but clearly we know that won’t happen

Sorry, comment time is over.
