Sandy adds, “I will also be starting a series on the Urban Land Army blog next week called ‘Grow It Yourself: The First Season.’ From my Gatewood test garden, I’ll walk people through how to grow 5 vegetables and 5 herbs – from ripping out the lawn to seeding and harvesting and preserving. Complete with photos, video, and fun reading!”

Has a decision been made on the vacant SPU land in Westwood? https://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=14487 Maybe they could donate it to the effort.

According to this page from the inline links (it’s #768), still “pending” –

In this time of government budget crises (we’ll be at a briefing downtown on Monday to get the latest #’s that everyone’s been warning about forever), I doubt there’ll be any “donating” going on. But we’ll keep an eye on the page, which mentions other area properties (“Delridge” refers to the city’s official district designation for everything east of 35th) – TR

Are you seeking locations of privately owned land only or would you like locations of SDOT owned, unimproved ROW’s that could be used as gardening spaces?

Private yards and public right-of-ways like parking strips can be added to the Land Link map, just as long as it is posted by the property owner or with their permission. (Homeowners are responsible for taking care of the parking strip adjacent to their property.)

The poster is by Medusa Design, who did a great job, I agree!

Privately owned land and right of ways like parking strips can be added to the map since property owners are responsible for maintaining these. Just as long as the property owner posts it themselves or grants permission.
