West Seattle Weather Watch: The wind finally showed up

Just for the record. The National Weather Service crafted its late-night forecast to say it was expecting the strong wind to start around midnight; we’re just noticing it now, at 2 am. (Reference link which hopefully won’t be needed: Seattle City Light power outages are usually listed here.) 3:02 AM NOTE: 3 am NWS observation at Alki Point – gusting to 43 mph.

Agreed, as I write this its only 18 MPH at http://weatherbug.excite.com/Common/Excite/Home.aspx?zcode=z4639&rnd2=71572& but the batteries are charged and ready!

I just swapped out the code on the weather widget to OLG instead of Boeing Field. Although it doesn’t quite seem to be picking up the velocity. Alki Pt. was gusting to 25 mph per NWS hourly observations at 2 straight up. Sounds worse than that out there now.

I’m curious when you people sleep! Thanks for all the current information though while I sleep soundly!

I was awake from 2:45 to 4:45 or so, unable to sleep because of the wind. It definitely sounded stronger on Gatewood Hill than 25 mph!!

Looks like gusts got up to near 45 MPH a little further south as well
