To see the citywide average, check AAA’s latest stats. We note the price of a barrel of oil each week at the time we update the survey; as of very early this morning, it’s $43.43 $51.90 (down from $51.90 one week ago; it was $49.15 two weeks ago; $56.30 three weeks ago; $63.34 four weeks ago), per MarketWatch.com.

Far away from West Seattle, but outside of Detroit its $1.45 a gallon for regular. I suspect before its at its lowest we’ll see that here too.

Not quite West Seattle, but many fuel up at Costco on 4th Ave S. Costco has strange pricing on gas. I was told that they average the cost of gas at nearby stations to come up with their 4th Ave price which is usually higher than Costo gas in Southcenter. Does not make sense.

Fuel Nulu, I was told from a gas station manager that they have some room to make up their own pricing, and he does this in his own area. Basically he checks what his competition is charging and then sets his own price, within limits. Makes sense to me on the Costco pricing. Plus they are in the city and Southcenter is another city, which is traditionally less expensive for gas. At least each week when I travel south the gas is as much as .10 a gallon less than Seattle pricing.

A similar oddity with Costco gas… We have home in Bonney Lake and spend time there as well as in Sumner both of which (especially Fred Meyer or Safeway) will have lower gas prices than the Puyallup Costco. They Costco attendant there says they just index to Puyallup … even though we are all relatively close and come to Costo like bugs to a light… no matter where one is… so it pays to compare!!

Sorry, comment time is over.
