Another note from last night’s Morgan Community Association meeting (in addition to our Fauntleroy Way paving report; still to come, new information about the Morgan Junction park): Martha Tuttle from King County was there with updates on the Murray Avenue Pump Station project, which will dig up a major chunk of Lowman Beach Park when construction begins – read on to see what she announced:

First, Tuttle introduced the new project manager, Linda Sullivan, who she says also is working on the Barton Street project by the Fauntleroy ferry terminal.

According to Tuttle, the county is “getting ready to get into design phase on this (Murray/Lowman) project … that will probably happen around the first of the year.”

Electrical work at the station is done, but the next phase involves an “odor control system and standby generator,” and Tuttle says that it won’t be possible to put some of it under the sidewalk as neighbors had asked.

They are asking now for neighborhood help on project design — which probably will require meeting participation; MoCA’s Cindi Barker planned to get information on the morganjunction.org website soon.

Regarding a timeline, Tuttle says design and siting — “where we dig” — will be decided next year; construction is probably still two years away (late 2010) and will last about a year and a half.

Though the page hasn’t been updated lately, you can find a bit more background on the project here.
