West Seattle Crime Watch: Missing motorcycle

Out of the WSB inbox, from Courtney:

We live across the street from Rocksport on SW Alaska and woke up this morning to a missing motorcycle. Sometime between bed last night (11pm) and leaving for work this morning (530am) our 2008 Suzuki GSX-R black on black has gone missing.

Just filed a police report, bike did have a wheel lock on the front wheel – so it had to be at least two people who took it. If anyone saw anything or knows anything it’d be great to know.

That’s a huge bummer…and weird coincidence. I was admiring that thing around 530 yesterday on my way to a haircut. Used to ride a ninja ZX6R in college…now the only bikes I have are ones with pedals! Best of luck, hope it comes back to you in good shape.

I also admire that bike every time I walk by as well. I’m glad I have LoJack on my motorcycle. Good luck on geting it back!

Sorry to hear that. I’ve had folks mess with my bags on my bike here on Beach Drive, looking for something to steal. I’d consider an audible alarm too, in addition to the lock.

Thank’s, it really hurts. Lojack was my next purchase for that bike. Thanks for the compliments, I worked hard to keep it nice. It was something that I waited for nearly a year as I wanted that specific color/style. Fingers are close.

Sorry Post-Bike! I hate motorcycle thieves!! We too had a motorcycle stolen from right outside our house. I’m sure it was stripped down to nothing by the following day. You’d think that people would have seen it being loaded into a truck or something. Those things are not easy to just cart away.

Sorry to hear that. I see that bike sitting there all the time.
As an avid motorcyclist and owner of 3 two wheelers, I am also in constant fear of losing one to some turd/loser that finds it easier to steal one than go get a job and buy one of his own.
My only advice is keep an eye on Craigslist for it being parted out.
    Keeping fingers crossed for you.

I am super sorry to hear of your loss . . . the odd thing is that my 07 R6 (with at least 3k in aftermarket parts) was stolen this summer also! I did have LoJack and still it has never been recovered. I don’t trust LoJack at ALL – Waste of Money.

I too searched online, hoping to find my parts or some a-hole selling it with phoney papers! No luck. Everyone tells you look online – Yeah, right! Someone willing to steal a top of the line bike probably knows better then selling it online – criminals my be dumb (so the America’s Most Wanted and SPD will have you believe) but I took EVERY precaution and still my baby is gone. I had Marchesini Wheels for crying out loud – DO KNOW HOW RARE THAT IS! Still everything has vanished without even the slightest trace.

Did you have Theft Insurance? Hope So!

It seems that the thieves only target Sport Bikes. I understand, who would you want anything else! LOL. Really . . . I still haven’t recovered from my loss (I loved that thing)! Do you have a picture that you could post of your bike? I did find out what group of people were behind my theft, from an anonymous tipster. I even checked these people out and they were know for this stuff – prior criminal history of theft – but when I called the cops and staked-out the alleged parties house (right in West Seattle) nothing happened.

Okay, I am a little bitter about the whole thing and reading your post just makes me furious. Good luck. I’d really post a picture! If I see your bike, I’ll run the a-hole of the road and call the police (I don’t think they deserve the protection the police will afford them from my rage) on your behalf.

Sorry to hear it. I’m lucky that I can park my bike in my garage, but I still worry that someday someone will roll it away. I’ll keep a look out for it.

Wonder if we should have a motorcycle meet up for West Seattle riders someday? Pretty sure I’ve already waved to you all, and you all have waved back. : )

well, I am the guy on the vintage Yamaha Cafe RAcer, or the flat black Yamaha streetfighter or the guy on the Kawasaki 400 triple, two stroker.
    Lets figure something out.

“Happy ending: Stolen bike found — in school bathroom

Thank you for all the support and condolences. I feel extreamly violated. Makes me wonder why there are only a few of us out there that have morals and values. Work hard, earn what you have and enjoy life. What is so difficult?

I appreciate the comments, it was a really sharp looking bike that allowed me to enjoy life a bit more. Now I get to see how much Comprehensive insurance is not going to help me, that is after 30 days to allow our Police a chance to spot it.

Even though I am not going to be on 2 wheels for some time, I think it would be great to do some local get together’s. I like just general cruises but it will also enhance our local awareness of bikes so that we can keep an eye out for each other

I linked 2 pics below from the day I got her (5/2/08). Since then I’ve put on a Taylormade Racing slipon exhaust, so instead of 2 cans all you see is the exhaust outlet in the lower body panel. Also has a Puig dark screen, woodcraft rear sets, black vortex stubby clutch and brake levers.
