Also tonight: Fireworks across the bay

We’ve had this on the WSB Events calendar ever since we spotted it on the USCG Local Notice for Mariners (a wonderful weekly bulletin to watch) — a fireworks show tonight for the conclusion of the Downtown Sailing Series races. We finally succeeded in getting details about the show, with a call to Olympia-based Entertainment Fireworks — they say the show will be from a barge offshore at Elliott Bay Marina in Magnolia, just west of the Port of Seattle’s piers. Time — probably 8:45-9 pm-ish. Rain or shine, says the fireworks company — their main pyrotechnics wizard, Ken Julian (with whom we worked while managing TV fireworks shows a few years back), is out assembling the show right now. So you’re likely to be able to see something from north-facing West Seattle spots.

Yeah what happened??? Missed the fireworks but really enjoyed a wonderful evening next to the water. We had a lovely bottle of wine, enjoying the city view. The crazy thing was seeing a big sea otter crossing the lawn area north of the boat launch. We turned around at the right time to see the otter running across the lawn headed for the water. He looked to be about 3 feet long. We then had fun watching for his head to pop-up! The Seattle skyline is so amazing! The sunset just lights the city in such a beautiful way..I love it!

I’d really like to see the fireworks though…do you think maybe tomorrow night???

I just saw them from Capitol Hill till about 10pm. I wondered if someone had snuck off with a few 4th of July fireworks from Lake Union–thanks to you I know what they were. Very nice show!
