The preview’s at 8 this morning, auction’s at 10, for the fixtures and furnishings from the former Corner Inn at California/Fauntleroy, less than two months after it abruptly shut down. The James G. Murphy Auctioneers website has a list of items, plus pix. Besides the coin-operated pool table, there’s the piano, the organ, and pie case, among other things. (The auction is at the shuttered restaurant/lounge, by the way.)
It would be nice if the owners of the Corner Inn would use the proceeds of the auction to pay the employees their last paychecks…it’s really sad when a local business closes with no notice, and screws over their employees in the process, conveniently right when rent is due…
The pay issue could be held up in court if there are any liens, etc, or if they filed a bankruptcy. Or its also possible that the building owner has placed a lien on the contents so they can receive their rent due.
