Not exactly West Seattle, but not far (Museum of Flight)—and he’s the dad and grandfather of West Seattleites:

    From the press release:
    Soaring Expo Presentation: Einar Enevoldson
Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2, 2 p.m. in the William M. Allen Theater
Einar Enevoldson, a former civilian test pilot at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center, was the co-pilot on the world’s first stratospheric glider flight. He set the world glider altitude record with Steve Fossett on Aug. 29, 2006, flying the “Perlan” high performance research glider to 50,671 feet above the crest of the Andes Mountains. During this fascinating presentation, Enevoldson will present information on this record-setting flight and what we have learned from it. As a NASA test pilot, Enevoldson flew many exotic research aircraft including the YF-12A and the last NASA rocket plane, the X-24B.
