Next public review for Spring Hill (not the restaurant)

It hasn’t appeared in the city’s Land Use Information Bulletin yet – the next one is due out later today – but according to this webpage, February 28 is the date set for the revised version of Spring Hill (the mixed-use project at 5020 California, south of The Junction) to go before the Southwest Design Review Board. DRB members asked for significant revisions at the first meeting on the project last month, which drew dozens of concerned neighbors. (WSB coverage is here; project materials submitted to the city before that meeting are here.)

They’re now turning California Ave into a canyon like Andover. This particular area is zoned NC2-65, right up against a single family dwelling zone to the east, across the alley. As the project that was built directly to the north a few years ago did, this one also will create a 65 ft wall of apts or condo’s right up against family homes. YUCK! City doesn’t care to change that zoning problem. Went thru design review a couple years ago on the one to the north to minimize the obtrusiveness on the homes – all a waste of time.

Does anyone else find the irony in the naming of these developments. It isn’t going to be much of a ‘Spring Hill’ after they drop this big bomb on the area.

the meeting on this project is reported to be scheduled at 8pm on the 28th. The more people from the neighborhood that show up, the more input we will have about the design.

I have heard that they are still going to funnel all car traffic through the alley.

Sorry, comment time is over.
