In the past week, we brought you registration information for West Seattle Pee Wee baseball and West Seattle Little League. Tonight, we want to tell you about West Seattle Girls Softball, for which you can register right now, online, continuing through mid-February. Here’s what the league is all about:

From the WSGS website: “West Seattle Girls Softball is a West Seattle community league for girls who live and/or go to school in the greater West Seattle area. Our spring league is available to any girl, ages 7-14 (K-8), in the West Seattle area that wishes to play softball. We offer a supportive environment where girls develop the basic skills of softball, learn the value of ‘team attitude,’ engage in friendly competition, and most importantly, have fun!”

wsgs-logo.jpgSteve Peer from the WSGS board tells WSB, “Practices will start in March and the season will wrap up the first week in June.” Games start in April; the league has four age brackets, explained on this webpage. The girls play on several fields around West Seattle, with potential playing locations listed here.

If you’re interested in registering, you can do it all online right now – go here. If you’re thinking about it but you’d like to call or e-mail somebody for more information first, that info is on the WSGS home page.

You’ll notice the league’s logo is sub-headed “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” but there’s also a serious slogan too — “Developing Confident and Capable Young Women through Athletic Teamwork and Individual Achievement.”
