Bank merger closes this week

Didn’t realize till reading this post on The Mortgage Porter (WSB sponsor) that Washington Federal is acquiring First Mutual. Both have West Seattle branches, both on California Ave; WF’s newly renovated branch in Morgan Junction, FM’s newly built branch is just north of The Junction. The acquisition closes on Friday.

I forgot about the WS Branch of Wa Fed… I just learned of this “merger” today…for how long it’s been in the works, it’s been very quiet.

They used to have a branch in Jefferson Square, too, but closed that about the time the Morgan Junction renovations finished last fall. That space is still empty, last time I checked.

Rhonda, I work for lawyers who do a great many of the Seattle-area bank mergers (and formations) – the amount of paperwork and bureacratic hoops to jump through with multiple agencies is just amazing, and it’s imperative to keep things quiet until certain approvals are obtained and things are becoming finalized. Many times I can be working on a merger for months without actually even knowing what entities are merging.

Sorry, comment time is over.
