WS woman’s kidnapper/attacker “lived in a van”

That’s according to this story (video clip included), including an interview with the husband of the victim, now identified as Terry Leffard. Still no additional info from other coverage or Seattle Police of exactly who the kidnapper/attacker is, except that he is described as a transient living in a van. One clarification — with verified address info (9800 block of 33rd SW), we know the area where this happened is Arbor Heights, not Westwood as we mentioned earlier.

I hope the husband finds him first.

I’m sure there’s a possibility of more than one person in West Seattle living in a van, but I can’t help wondering if this is the same guy that seems to live in a van behind Chuck & Sally’s Tavern on California & Graham. Since we used to live right across the street (in what will soon be condos), I used to see this guy all the time. The van rarely moved, and it’s obvious he lives in it. Maybe it’s someone completely different, though, and the guy I’m thinking of may be perfectly nice.

What color is the van behind Chuck & Sally’s?

I’m sure her husband is angry, albeit that word probably doesn’t describe his emotional state at all. But I am hoping he doesn’t find the man first. How tragic that would be if this poor woman who needs her loved ones nearby has to endure additional emotional problems because her husband has been charged with some violent crime.
My hope is that he is nearby his wife and ready to give her the support that she needs after this traumatic event.

After seeing the updated van description, I’m even more suspicious because I’m pretty sure the van I’m thinking of is maroon, also. I’m sure if it’s the same guy he’s cleared out of there by now, as that’s a fairly visible spot. Haven’t been by there since moving down to Avalon, so I haven’t seen him lately anyway.

    Ummmm….

9800 Block of 33rd Ave SW is in Westwood. I live within 4 blocks of this address and it IS Westwood. In fact Westwood Village is less than six blocks away.

My apologoes…It seems that you are correct. According to the Westwood Neighborhood webpage, Westwood comprises the following area:

Westwood is the West Seattle neighborhood between SW Holden Street and SW Roxbury Street., SW 35th Ave. and Delridge Way SW. We are our own little “town”, with a library, high school, middle school, two elementary schools, fire department station, medical services, P-patch garden, shopping center, U. S. Post Office, stores, restaurants, community center and swimming pool, and athletic facilities (Sealth/Denny Field).

The above address is 2 bloks south of Roxbury.

Am I missing something? This address of 9800 block of 33rd SW is not within the parameters of the Westwood neighborhood. In fact, it is unincorporated King County. Westwood Village is just two blocks from the Seattle border. If you drive south from Westwood (leaving near the McDonalds)… when you cross Roxbury, you’re “out of town!”

The address is still within the Seattle City limits. There’s a little chunk of SW Seattle that goes south of Roxbury and west of 30th. That’s Arbor Heights and Arroyo Heights. Sometimes the police get confused, too. I’ve called the non-emer number and had them tell me to call the King County sheriff.

Sorry, comment time is over.
