Might have been a good place for a Night Out party

On the easternmost edge of West Seattle, a couple of parks dot the shore of the Duwamish, including T-107 Park, where a WSB reader spotted two signs like this:

we take our dogs down there after work quite often and we see men walking alone around the park and suddenly appearing out of the bushes. it is kinda creepy and judging by the cars in the parking lot, they could afford the hotel room.

so it sounds like they’re already had some night out parties…definitely creepy..

I don’t know about creepy; its obvious what’s going on… but it is definitely stupid behavior. The activity level must have been way over the top for signs to be posted and for people to complain.

That’s really discouraging to hear. Those parks are also habitat restoration projects, and to me they are great symbols of hope for environmental recovery. I started working on the T107 site more than 10 years ago, and it is really amazing to see how far it has come and how much wildlife has returned to it. How unfortunate that less appealing elements are also attracted.

The same thing happens on the north entrance to the West Seattle dog park. It’s disgusting this goes on. These men sit in their cars and wait for other men to show up and go in the woods. These look like average working/married men.

Must be a trend since Florida was having this same problem with parks and the mens bathrooms. They had to put in timed bathroom doors so men couldn’t have sex in them while families were about.

    Are you really surprised?

I hate to say it because it’s such a beautiful park, but I’ve witnessed some suspiciuos activity at Jack Block Park as well.

Disgusting? Suspicious activity? Creepy? Men and women too have been using parks for sexual activity for years. It is not a new trend. I remember walking through one of our WS parks a few years ago with a youngster when I came across a man and a woman completely undressed and well… this is too nice of a blog to say more. Its wrong behavior for a park regardless of who is doing it whether in their car or on the park grounds. With the posted signs at T107, I bet the activity has come to an end. Thanks Herrongrrl for your work at T107, it is a piece of history recovered by good neighbors like you!

Since everyone these days carries some type of digital picture taking device, I suggest all of us upstanding residents TAKE DIGITAL PICTUES of suspicious characters and send them to the police, and, post them on-line to bring attention to the suspicious characters.

    Take back our parks!

Sorry, comment time is over.
