Invitation to join JuNO

No, JuNO is not another one of those condo names. It’s the Junction Neighborhood Association, a new group of, and for, people who live in and around The Junction. If that includes you, you’re invited to its first meeting, next Thursday (August 2), 6:30 pm at the Senior Center. The special guest will be Seattle Police Southwest Precinct crime-prevention coordinator Benjamin Kinlow. You can find out more about JuNO and its upcoming meeting by clicking here to download the official meeting flier (which includes the e-mail address for JuNO organizers, and a reference map for the area JuNO is focusing on).

For what it’s worth .. I live near CA and Charlestown and just wanted to let my neighbors know my car was broken into between 7 PM 7/23 and 6:30 AM 7/24. My stereo was stolen.

wow…sorry to hear that, Todd. That sucks. I’m in the Admiral District, right behind Safeway…have had my car prowled twice in the last year ( I think because I hadn’t locked when I thought I had)…They got all of about $2.50 in change. I think mine was teenagers from the neighborhood…yours sounds a bit more…aggressive. :(

Yeah, and I do take proactive security measures. Also, the car was on a busy street, under a light, locked, windows up, etc.. nothing in sight to temp anyone except a half full paper cup of flat root beer. The face plate on my stereo was not even there so it looked like flat black plastic. They were nice though to leave my window intact but it was probablu an accident that they did not break it. People like this make it hard for people like me to be understanding, compassionate, etc.

That’s quite the wacky area outlined as the JuNO “urban village.” I wonder who came up with that, and how?

The JuNO area definition is straight from the city’s neighborhood plans. They may extend the area later but feel the focus now needs to be in the immediate Junction area. It’s exciting to see a new community group starting up and I’ll be attending their first meeting as a Junction user even though I live in the Morgan community – which also has an active community group – see “morganjunction.org”

Sorry, comment time is over.
