Props to the Garlic Jim’s guy …

… who, if you haven’t been following the thread, has been posting answers to questions in the comment section of our post about his impending opening date. The comments on this here blog are often more interesting than our posts, the way we see it, and this is an absolute first, for a new businessperson to “come in” and not just say hi, but also respond pleasantly to others’ comments and questions. Even if they don’t wind up delivering this far south, we’re definitely giving them a try. By the way, don’t forget that Westwood Village is allegedly bringing in some new pizza joint this year as well — though we still can’t find any info anywhere on who or what a “Gionnoni’s Pizza” (as it’s listed on the WV site) is.

WS Blogger, I’m glad you posted this. You beat me to the punch. I don’t know Ryan, but have to thank him for reaching out to the community like he did. I will be there opening day to support his new business. The fact that Garlic Jim’s is a “chain” makes no difference (I don’t see you stomping Radio Shack, 7 Eleven, Safeway, Petco and a bunch others). Give him a chance to operate his business before you start criticizing him for delivery cars. I admire anyone that can go out and start their own business and at the same time make the community better.

Someone asked my opinion on top eats in WS…since I’m on the SW side by Westwood Village, here are my tops close by:

Pizza – #1 Abbondanza (sp?) and #2 Pags
Mexican – Guadalajara down by the ferry docks
Chinese – #1 Ho Win, yes Ho Win….looks like a dump, but reminds me of Chinese that I grew up as a kid. #2 – Lee’s Asian
Misc – Eatz Market at WV and Elliot Bay Brew
Worst – Sub Shop at Westwood Village (THEY SUCK SO BAD)!!

Totally agree – Abbondanza is THE best pizza in town! But I will try Garlic Jim’s, too…

I’ll try Garlic Jim’s pizza as well (mostly because the owner was so nice to respond to comments!). If it’s good pizza(and I hope it is), I’ll be a regular and loyal customer.

Thanks everyone for the nice words! We will be doing some free (yes really free) sample nights in the days before we open to get our crew up to speed and get any kinks worked out before the actual grand opening. I will be sure to extend an invite to you all. If any of you out there live in a apartment/condo building we would also like to do a free sample night at your building. Let me know if any any of you are interested. We are still still shooting for a March 20th opening date. Thanks again!

Another vote for “if they deliver south of 35th and Roxbury we’ll be happy customers.” And really, there are so many of us at this end of town, that it would really be to the financial advantage of Garlic Jim’s to deliver to our area.

I’ll remain hopeful that Garlic Jim’s will become our favorite pizza… and that they will deliver to us. =)

Best Chinese – Jade West Cafe.
Abbondonza is great, and they will deliver to the Beveridge Place Pub (so you CAN get good food with the great beer.)

Glad to see Abbondanza getting the positive comments they deserve. Their pizza and pastas are very good.

Thanks for the tip on Ho-Win. I have little/no reservations about going into a dive in the CD, but my comfort level drops when you get out of the CD.

The hot subs at the Subshop in the Westwood Village rock.

Sorry, comment time is over.
