Open space in JuNo

If we can have NoMo and SOA, why not JuNo — north of The Junction? Anyway, an e-mail tip alerted us to empty storefronts we hadn’t previously noted. Emerald City Locksmith is gone, but window postings promise they’ll unlock a new location on Harbor Ave in March; Fringe salon is just plain gone, with FOR LEASE signs outside the space (which has had other names), as well as a land-use alert (townhouses, of course) dating back to last August.

I am curious whether SOA stands for “south of Admiral.” Does anybody know who coined the designation and when? Does SOA appear on a sign or a storefront somewhere?

I confess to being a clueless and sheltered WS person, but I have lived several blocks south of Admiral Way (and several blocks north of the WS Junction) for ten years and have never heard or seen SOA used except for the one passing mention in West Seattle blog.

Sorry – we forgot to link to the earlier WSB post where we mentioned spotting SOA on a flyer at a “South of Admiral” business. (And “NoMo” on a condo sign “North of Morgan Junction.”)

OK, I can deal with “Cali Ave” – even though I can’t stand it, but this SOA, NoJu, JoNu, SoMo, NoMo business has got to stop!

Eric, we’re in those same boundaries, though I think we’d better throw in WeWe (west of Westwood).

Are the people living above Alki called…
    Alki-hillics?

Oh man… I guess that means we are NoRo or SoWW. North of Roxbury, South of Westwood. :)

Sorry, comment time is over.
