Feedback Lounge

  1. I'm dying to know, did anyone go to the Feedback Lounge opening yesterday? And if so, how was it?

    Posted 3 years ago #
  2. Went last night around 7. Enjoyed a PBR & JD for $8 while sitting on the Iron Maiden bar stool checking out the ticket stubs and backstage press passes under glass at the Beer & Shots bar. The b&w front projection on the back wall had the DC5! The staff are familar and Mr. Gilbert certainly knows how to work the room. Check it out.

  3. wow...a new place opens, and only 2 post???? What gives?? I've heard it's an amazing place..I'll give a shot during a weeknight.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  4. My friend went and she said it was great and very busy. that's all the info I have.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  5. Forum's slower on weekends - main page traffic drops a little on weekends but forum drops dramatically; I figure it's a workplace diversion. We heard in e-mail from someone who said it was jammed and they had a blast. We would have dropped by if not for the fact the SWAT situation (and processing video etc. afterward) ate up most of the evening. But our preview from Thursday likely provided a fair amount of flavor.

And now that Skillet's day one is in the books (if you haven't seen the addition to the main story, Skillet noted via Twitter that this was not only their biggest opening day ever, but also their biggest day PERIOD ever) ... stand by for Zeeks Pizza wall-to-wall opening day coverage on Friday :)

  6. Would love to hear more reviews. We tried to stop by around 5pm tonight for "happy hour" but a sign on the door said not opening til 6 due to "mechanical issues". Hope it all worked out and we WILL be there next weekend!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  7. We stopped by around 7:30 and it was PACKED. Seemed like a pretty fun place. Definitely a different crowd than most other places in WS. I heard someone else describe it as "butt rock city". We ended up bailing and going to the Bev after waiting at the bar for 15 minutes to get a drink, so I'll have to try again when it isn't so busy.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  8. LOL wow you know a place is mega packed when the BPP seems not so crowded by comparison.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  9. rule of thumb ...don't go on opening night - lol...give them time to work out the kinks..."butt rock city", huh...interesting...will have to look in my closet for some...fashion - lol...

  10. I just got back from having an after work beer at the Feedback Lounge. Funny that I have an after work beer on what should be my day off.

Jeff and crew have done a great job in creating a fun, and not to mention beautiful bar. Great rock memorabilia on the walls without having a "Hard Rock Cafe" feel. Looks nothing like the old BPP did in the same location. The beer cooler is gone, and they opened up the entire place. It seems HUGE now.

They told me that they had to stop letting people in opening night it got so busy. I am hoping for this place to get scuffed up a little bit and becomes the hard rock dive that it should be. Maybe that will chase off the Tommy Bahama wearing jerks that took my seat at the bar when I went to the bathroom.

I guess they are going to start having music themed nights soon, like Motown Mondays. Holy crap I can not wait for that. They should get a good DJ to spin old soul records some night.

I forgot my camera, but you should go check it out for yourselves. Just remember when you see a pile of stuff on a bar, like a cell phone, cash, a tshirt, etc, that means some one is sitting there!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  11. Motown Monday? I am SOOOOOO there.
Tho....if they do a Rush Thursday...I'll have to pass :)

I was also there last night - the front was busy, back empty. Didn't see a person under 35, and most considerably older, for the first hour or so, but quite a mix of long hairs, after work people, that Tommy Bahama embroidered jacket wearing guy that Full Tilt mentioned, your typical West Seattle mix... As we got closer to 8pm the clientele starting getting younger. I liked the demographics.

Sat at the bar and had a couple of cocktails "A Thousand Injuries" (brandy and Licor 43 cocktail) and "Brazilian" (acai infused vodka cocktail) and a delicious and huge cobb salad; BF had a rye-containing cocktail then a manhattan and the antipasti plate which was also substantial. We were happy with the quality of all. Our bartender is still learning the cocktail menu so not as quick as he soon will be. Another couple of weeks will have him knocking them out. While not our bartender, another guy kept checking on us; I can only assume that's Jeff, as he wanted feedback (heh!) on our drinks/food. The music in the background was eclectic and excellent, but was marred for several minutes by the person who decided to play the piano in the back room. One or the other please, not both. I was fascinated by the ticket stubs and passes under glass in the whammy bar going back to the '70s. Really took me back to my early concert-going experiences.

BF said it was the best manhattan he's had (and he's had many) and he loved the atmosphere. I liked the atmosphere, price point on the food, quality of the food, and the creative cocktails. I look forward to my next visit which will probably be soon. Two thumbs up.

What? The best Manhattan? I thought that I alone made "the best Manhattan." This is cause for investigation. Feedback and Feedbag... I am going to have to make a visit real soon!

Stopped by last night, I would agree with the demographic comments. The drink menu was adventurous but poorly executed. My wife mentioned it looked like they used a consultant on their cocktails menu as many of the drinks were familiar, or variants from local bartenders. The taste was off, the bartender was dutifully following an instruction sheet, and no real bartending was happening, they were just throwing stuff into glasses. Service was off as well, but not any more than I would expect for a bar that had been open for three days. Hopefully with some time things will settle down and get a bit better. Selling yourself as having knowledgeable bartenders with an ambitious menu is a lot of work, and they weren't there yet. All aside I will be there for shots and beer based on the spaten pils on tap.

I was a bartender many years ago; and at the same time that I was a kindergarten teacher. Really not very different. I am glad that I don't tend bar any longer. The foofy drinks are silly and more costly than they are worth. If a bartender can make a good Manhattan, an Old Fashion, and a Gibson then she/he are alright in my book.

  20. now...a question for those who have had the antipasti plate at Feedback...there is something on the plate called "mortebella". I would like to know exactly what it is? I wrote to the owner to give some...errr...feedback...and got a response that said something about no spellcheck, but the menu hasn't been changed yet. Is it "mortadella", an italian lunchmeat? or is it a dead (mort) mushroom (ebella)? just curious...;-)

Mortadella is an Italian Sausage of pork, beef and pork fat; seasoned and usually flavored with the addition of wine. Mortadella used to be seasoned with myrtle (latin - murt). Thus the name. Not sure if myrtle is still a seasoning used in this sausage.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  25. Flowerpetal..having grown up on the east coast, mortadella was a normal commodity, esp. in sub sandwiches (it's yummy - esp. if it has pistachios in it). I just found it humorous that the item on the Feedback menu was morteBella...hence, my question.:)

We went tonight to Feedback..the place was busy and understaffed. The waitress mentioned that it wasn't busy last night so they let a few servers have the night off..bad discision. We ordered a bottle of wine, a blue cheese burger and pork medallions. The wine was good the food was absolutly terrible, except the fries they were okay. They need work on their menu it doesn't really jive well with the atmosphere. The wine we ordered was charged out $2 more than the menu price stated, which we pointed out to our server and told her to keep the difference. We liked the interior job they have done on the space. The whole block looks great now with BPP, Feedback and Zeeks what a great improvement to the neighborhood. I wish them the best of luck we'll try them again in a month or two.

I went around 6ish until about 8 last night with a couple of folks and I was probably the youngest person there, but not hairiest by a long shot.

I had a great time! We split the Hot Wings & Tangy Wings, and then I had the pork chops (hearty helping of mashed potatoes and a couple of meaty asparagus too). We took over two couches and drank and had a great time.

lazybeard I saw you there last night I think. were you wearing a tan button up shirt partially unbuttoned about half way down with that luxuriously furry undercoat protruding from your shirt? Those dolphin shorts were pretty swank as well.

I had some chicken wings and they were really good. loved the atmosphere there as well as I was ahuge kiss fan when I was a little girl.

    NaturalMom,

I never much cared for Kiss, but they also have a Styx photo near the Whammy Bar. I was a huge Styx fan in my infancy.

    lazybeard,

Excessive fur may truly be a sign of good manly health. You ladies out there better beware of the lazybeard, he may be an animal in good ways.

Feedback Lounge has an impressive array of high end booze.

If Kiss is your thing that this is the place for you as Kiss memorabelia is well represented.

I am with NoLikeyCupcakes though, I liked Styx better back in the 70s than Kiss.

  33. So does anybody know why they cover up their front windows with black plastic every night? Every morning when my BF walks by he says the windows are covered up. Trying to hide the view of the high-end booze? Just curious!

    JEM,

I believe the use of black plastic is similar to a practice which takes place in Dublin. Pubs are required to close early so in order to get around that the pubs make it appear that they are shut down when in fact people are drinking all night there. I think that the Feedback Lounge may remain open all night for those comitting to running the distance. This would totally be a totally rock n roll lifestyle thing to do.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  35. It is a security thing. A lot of bars do this. People are less likely to break in if they are not sure that someone is not there.

You and I share some common ones.

Some of my favorite albums are:

Jimi Hendrix - Axis Bold as Love
    Led Zeppelin II
King Crimson - Starless and Bible Black
    Van Halen I
    Metallica - Master of Puppets
    Fugazi - 13 Songs
    Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
    Jesus Lizard - Liar

I guess I could spend a couple hours writing out favs, but that is a start

Ok... I decided to go to the Feedback Lounge last night and what happened was that 1)I got hammered 2)I got hammered 3) I am now hanging...lol. No seriously, I am hanging though as I type this out right now. The prime time Friday night crowd was good mix of young/older well behaved. There's a lot of new faces in W.S. I've noticed doing the bar hopping scene. But who knows were the crowd come's from, its anybody's guess. Yep..W.S. isn't like how it used to be the sleepy town though. I'd say they probably had around 100 people constantly last night. They really opened the interior up to give you more space to lounge around in and not feel like sardines. I didn't try any of the food because It was my intention to just drink. I ponied up to the bar which is enormous and well done. There is a lot of good high-end booze as well. Hospitlity is Jeff Gilbert's(owner)middle name. It comes naturally for him to make you feel welcomed. He is a big time people person and knows how to interact with his customers. Now the service (which is my expertise in) is that the they definetley are still somewhat short-staffed behind the bar for a busy weekend drinking crowd like last night. But it's understandable when you got everyone in W.S. trying to get a drink at the same time. Go in their when its not busy like on a weeknight (for now) if you don't like crowds. They are brand new so they'll be busy for a few more weeks until everyone's been their done that. I'm sure though that as time goes on, there won't be much problems like they had encountered last night(not trying to discourage anyone from not going who's reading this,go in and try them). Overall the floor staff is professional as well. I'll have to go in earlier next time and try some food when they're not slammed. I'll be back for sure.

trensuela..Led Zepp 2 it has everything on it from hard riffing blues sound in the Lemon Song to a clasic rock love ballad in Thank You. I nver got tired of listening to it. Now Led Zep 4 would have been up there, but radio simply overplayed it to death. Tid Bit: I never realized until after listening to 2112 by Rush only awhile after way back then when it was released, that Ayn Rand was a motivating factor in Rush's objectivism to their lyrics in their music. The album 2112 was based loosely on the book Anthem by Ayn Rand.

Jiggers- nice to see a nod to 2112. I played that album so many times... my mom just LOVED to hear Geddy Lee at high volume for days, weeks, months.. (not). She was a musician, and never made me turn it off.. Anyway, I sought out Ayn Rand's books after reading in the lyrics section:
    2112
    Lyrics by Neil Peart
With acknowledgment to the genius of Ayn Rand

I then went on to base an essay in my high school creative writing class based on 2112..based on Anthem.. and got an A+, of course. -Thanks Ayn and Neil! (Don't tell Mrs. Cross!)

Most people that want to have probably already checked out the Feedback by now, but I'll go ahead and give my 2 cents anyway. Went last Saturday night around 10pm and snagged the very last table back in the Whammy Bar. The place was packed.

They've done a really nice job renovating the place. You'd never realize the Beverage Place Pub used to be there unless someone told you. Very red and black with a beautiful wood bar. Lots of rock paraphernalia on the walls and live videos/concerts on the flatscreens. I was actually sorta shocked at how nice it was. I had heard there were couches in the bar, but I was thinking more the vintage style than the modern black leather style. I guess I was thinking it'd be a little more 'punk rock' than 'butt rock.'

Actually, there was a really good mix of people. Old long hairs, cougars wearing leopard print, young hipsters, butt-rockers and your average joes. Definitely a unique mix for West Seattle. After the buzz dies down I'll be interested to see who remains. Hopefully it keeps the diverse clientele.

Can't say much about the food or drinks as we only drank Spaten Pils and Rye Whiskey. There did seem to be a very large selection of liquor, though. Had the chips and salsa as well, which was pretty good and cost effective at only 4 bucks. All in all it seems like a great place (just the shot in the arm that WS nightlife needed) and I will definitely be back soon.

Does West Seattle really need another "butt rock" bar? Doesn't the Corner Pocket and Redline provide enough for one neighborhood. I was really excited about this place at first. I thought it would actually be lounge, not just another lame loud place where kids who were in diapers when butt rock was around the first time, walk about like know one has ever heard of Judas Priest but them! lol

    Posted 3 years ago #
  44. Um, ella713, have you been there? It's not the same as Corner & Redline at all. I wouldn't classify those that were there "kids" either. I often see a younger crowd at Beveridge Place. My drinks were very, very good, the blues was playing and I'll be back there soon.

ella713 - give the Feedback a try. It is absolutely nothing like the Redline or Corner Pocket. I bet the music they plays varies greatly depending on the night of the week. Saturdays (the night we were there) are probably the most rockin. I bet weeknights are a little more chill, if that's your thing. As I said, this place is NICE. I would not say the same about the Redline or Corner Pocket. Also, I would say the crowd actually skews towards the older folks. I'm 41 and I actually felt fairly young for once.

Here is my little review....... I went there last night with the girlfriend. We were hungry and looking for some grub. We decided that we might get pasta and a burger. When we went to order they said that they were not serving burgers ,pasta or dessert. That left a pretty sparse menu of items that sounded ok but would be the first ones that I would cut on a menu....needless to say we got some apps and went home a little hungry. I realize that this is a lounge but the really need to dial in on an acceptable food menu otherwise I think they might be in trouble. Whats wrong with grilled cheese and soup or a club sandwich? Pretty low tech and fairly universal for bar food. I wish them luck as in this new ecomomy beacuse I really like the space.

The Feedback Lounge is all about creativity, dedication, and hard work; everything that embodies music and what artists go through to express their passion. Like any song that begins with that first musical note, and germinates into that one rockin’ song you play on repeat, the FBL may indeed have a few riffs to work out. But, ultimately, it’s working out the kinks that results in something classic and legendary. Like my favorite cocktail, the St. Basil, which is a unique blend of Elderflower, Lemon & Basil, the Feedback is a unique venue. How often does one get to play sit-down Ms Packman, and sit on a Kiss barstool all in the same room while oogling at rock photography. For myself, I’m looking forward to trying all the specialty cocktails, the burger, and the Bread Pudding, yum! Now if only I could get that Kiss barstool moved to the front room with my own “Reserved” sign.

  48. I cannot wait to go but life and a toddler have not allowed me to visit my old TV hosts place, YET. I plan on bringing in some of the shows Jeff hosted when I was younger. I have gotten older but he hasn't. Jeff never ages, or if he does he is like a fine wine and just gets better. This place sounds great.

    Swill as ONE! Cheers!
