Tracy is recognized on Seattle Magazine's 2008 Power List, a collection of the "Most influential people of 2008".

An article describes her experience, the rise of WSB and its role informing us & inspiring other neighborhood blogs. Very well deserved praise. Congrats Tracy, Patrick and Junior team member!

  8. Didn't know this got announced somewhere finally ...

We hadn't said anything because it was supposed to be sort of under wraps ... we were contacted way back during the summer and had been waiting to say something when the magazine hits the stands. Whatever photo they used (if they used one), it came from the photo shoot in the picture in this August post:

Anyway, thanks for the kind words. Big publicity week for us, I guess ... the Seattle Channel story featuring WSB (also shot a little while back) is going to be in the next edition of City Stream, with air times/dates listed here:
    http://www.seattlechannel.org/schedule/programDetails.asp?title=3070832

(The Seattle Channel clip will supposedly be available online sometime Friday; we'll add the link to our media coverage list on the About page when we see evidence of that. I don't know if/when there'll be an online version of the Seattle Magazine article, which I haven't even seen - looked at a newsstand a couple days ago and it was still the Oct. issue - which also seems to be the case on their website at seattlemag.com)

thanks again for everybody's support ...
    TR

Huge congrats -- and a big thank you too. The bob half works in Renton and it's horrible NOT to be able to find out things because they don't have a version of WSB. It took us half a day to find out why some of their roads were closed (broken main -- underwater). That was not acceptable. We do get spoiled here. :-)

    Tall latte's all around! :D

  22. Now why is this buried on the Forums page?? I check here only irregularly and could have missed this exciting news entirely! Please unbury and put on the home page so everyone can celebrate with you - congrats WSB team!

  23. Once the magazine hits the newsstands and/or online and I can actually see the article myself, I'll do that :) if anyone's seen it in a store, please advise - we checked again yesterday and it was still the October issue ...

    Posted 3 years ago #
  24. I just picked the issue up at PCC around 6:30 this evening. It's the November issue with "Best Desserts" on the cover. The write-up on TR is on page 98.

TR, you're in some really impressive company on that list! You should be very proud!

  25. It's online now, also at: http://www.seattlemag.com/pages/index.cfm?PAGE_ID=120&ARTICLE_ID=44

    Congratulations TR, Patrick and JMoT.

  26. I just found it - though it's minus the photo (we picked up the magazine itself late today, when did magazines get to be $5?) which is probably the best picture ever taken of me -- via the lighting or something, I wound up with a chin line for the first time since about 1984 -- anyway, the blurb is about halfway down "page two" of the link Jo kindly provided.

Before I post about it on the home page sometime tomorrow, I'm going to go over it with a fine-toothed comb for other West Seattleites - I seem to recall that Anne Levinson of the Seattle Storm was identified to me as a WS resident when the basketball thing first made news -

But otherwise, gosh, Bill and Melinda Gates and Booth Gardner, on the same list. None of us big enough, however, to make it to the cover, which features ... cupcakes. Yum!

  27. Thank you Tracy and everyone at the WSB!! I love reading our blog. Every neighborhood should be so lucky!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  28. TR - Anne Levinson does live in West Seattle.

  29. The Seattle Channel piece is up! http://tinyurl.com/5r7g5h

    Posted 3 years ago #
  30. Thanks, Kirida. The WS piece starts at about 14:38 or so (for those who don't have the half hour to sit and listen to the whole thing right now).

    Posted 3 years ago #
  31. Well deserved!!
Now we all need to help support this fantastic community service and send them lots of $$$ to keep it going. Well, time are tought, how about a $$, or a $! I'm sure it would be put to good use. We also need to make a effort to support the sponsors.

No, I'm not on the payroll!(LoL)

How do the sponsors know this is where we found them, unless they monitor links (and we go through these links.)? I always tell people when we're f2f, but just wondered if there's a more web 3.0 way to do it.

Maybe there could be an "As advertised in the WSB" card for their window/other ads? Sort of reciprocity.
