Thanks to Dan E for that view of what he describes as a “brief but spectacular” rainbow this morning, visible looking toward Blake Island.

  1. I saw this too! Photographs are never as spectacular. But this photo is better than what I got. I took it at the same time, with the boat going below it.

I had just eaten a bowl of Lucky Charms and was running out the front door to leave and right there in front of me, a beautiful rainbow!! It was a wonderful way to start the day and kept me smiling the whole time car I was stuck in the backup because of the accident on the bridge.

  2. As I was driving West toward the Sound early yesterday morning, I saw a strange pink glow in the cloudy gray dawn. It was a very odd thing to see, because it was still dark and the sun was coming up behind me in the East. That’s usually where you see color in the morning sunrise. As I crested the hill and the Sound came into view, I saw this beautiful rainbow over the water. It was so spectacular I had to pull over and watch it for awhile. It seemed that the rising sun was shooting rays out from the Eastern horizon and sending them all the way across to the Western horizon. I can’t remember ever seeing a rainbow that early in the morning. So glad that someone got a photo of it. Every day I’m reminded that West Seattlites are truly blessed to be living in such a beautiful area.
