is this news or an ad?

    • WSB August 16, 2016 (1:02 pm)

It’s news. WSB does NOT, unlike many news sites these days, sell “sponsored posts (articles),” which are just a different kind of ad – we decide, whether a business is a sponsor or not, whether something is news that we want to publish. Mioposto IS a sponsor and we have noted that above, as we do in any context in which we mention a sponsor, even a calendar listing. We publish business and restaurant news about nonsponsors (one such story in the works for later today) as well as sponsors – TR

Not sure if you’re new here or just feeling cranky?  Restaurant news always dredges up community discussion, along with complaints and questions about the lack of delivery.  So, a restaurant adding delivery (along with text ordering, new hours, etc) is indeed news in West Seattle.

2 mile radius?  So about as far South as the Alaska Junction, maybe a few blocks more?  Well I guess that’s a start…

Following up on SGG’s question… Would WSB publish this kind of story about any business in West Seattle? Or just ones who are sponsors?

    • WSB August 16, 2016 (6:15 pm)

Hi, “Hmm.” That was addressed above, but if you’d like to see for yourself, you can go through our West Seattle Restaurants coverage archive:

      https://westseattleblog.com/category/west-seattle-food/

It’s a 44-page archive. On the first page alone (at least as the desktop/laptop/tablet-in-landscape site paginates it), there are 22 stories, dating back three months, from today to mid-May. Those stories (a couple are “roundups” with multiple items) mention 20 restaurants. Of those 20, four are sponsors: Mioposto, Pecos Pit, Salty’s, Zeeks (the latter two were mentioned only as part of our coverage of the Taste of West Seattle fundraiser). – TR

C’mon, people, I know not everyone has lived in West Seattle, nor read WSB since its inception, but anyone that’s been checking in at least occasionally for more than a few months knows that WSB regularly  reports on various West Seattle businesses, in various stages of being planned, opening up,  making significant changes to their operation,  and, sadly sometimes, when they go out of business.

good to know.  It’s noteworthy that Mioposto is making the kind of moves that further integrate it into the community—-weekend brunch and now home delivery.

Agree with Mike.   Thanks WSB for all of the updates on the businesses in the area.  Very helpful information as I try to keep my spend close to home!

Will chime in with some thanks as well. That is the whole point as to why I read the West Seattle Blog; I can get a detailed article about small, easy to miss zoning changes (the real estate appraiser in me geeked out over that one ;-) and a great update about a local place now delivering, or opening a new deck, or sadly as Mike pointed out, closing. I have always found the site to be very thorough and non-partial.

I think you should change the name from WSB to WSRN — West Seattle Right Now — since it’s how we learn everything that’s going on in West Seattle all the time, every day. It’s comprehensive up-to-the-minute coverage I don’t think you can find in many (any?) other areas.

Sorry, comment time is over.
