Video: 350+ running and ‘dodging’ in 2014 Float Dodger 5K

9:42 AM: First big event up this morning – the pre-parade Float Dodger 5K, third annual edition. Our crew at the starting line at California/Charlestown says that run presenter West Seattle Runner (WSB sponsor) has 450 people signed up. They’re scheduled to take off at about 9:45, headed north to the spot in our top photo – California/Lander, where the West Seattle Hi-Yu float awaits the “dodgers,” who then head back south along the parade route toward The Junction. The 5K is a fundraiser benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. More to come.

10 AM: The runners have dodged the float – here’s a short clip:

We’ll have more photos/video to add later – but first, it’s on with the parade!

ADDED 4:36 PM: Photos – this is a race you dress up for!

Haven’t seen the results yet (if you see them first, please let us know so we can share the link).

ADDED: One more view of the “dodging” at California/Lander:

And as commenter JRR pointed out earlier, you can look up the results here.

SUNDAY NOTE: Tim from WSR updates the participation in count in comments. We have changed the number in the headline to 350+ as a result.

This was the most fun I’ve had at a 5K in years. Thanks, Seattle Runner for a great event!

We had a blast and raised a lot of money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Over 350 people ran this year, with over 420 registered. This keeps getting bigger and bigger. Thank you West Seattle (and beyond) for supporting our little run. We are already looking forward to next year.
