Interesting, only about 4 or 5 blocks from the previous stabbing. Hope they’re alright…

A Medic One and a cop just sped passed heading North on 35th… lights and sirens.. wonder if that’s them taking the lady to the hospital? Sad when you can’t go out on a Saturday night in the neighborhood and not be safe. Hope she’ll be ok.. Hope they catch this sad excuse for a human that stabbed her.

It’s like 1991 out there. Anyone else remember the good old days when this stuff was lot more common.

This sounded like a domestic violence situation, not someone out on a Saturday night getting stabbed at random. They have the name of the suspect and are actively searching for him.

I have noticed that since the bus route for the 120, and others have moved down near Westwood Village that there has been more crime here in the past year that I have lived in the area.

@Phil: Once King County eliminates all the buses, it will keep all the riff-raff away :) [end-sarcasm]

It was a domestic situation and the suspect was arrested and is booked into the Seattle jail… This area is getting so bad just in the couple of year since I have lived here.. there had not been any issues surrounding this immediate area for so long and now it is a continual thing it seems… Looks like it may be time for me to get moving…

Thanks, I just got confirmation from police of the arrest so was adding that to the story.

It is time for new knife control laws.
    Need background checks and registration.

God bless these people. I hope the victim recovers and the suspect gets some help with his issues.

Nice to know it’s not random stranger violence, but I hear hints of “just” in the domestic violence comments above. It is not “just” domestic violence; it is not the woman’s fault; it is not anything to be less concerned about. And for that matter strangers, neighbors and passersby often get injured in domestic disputes as well. No one deserves to be stabbed just because she knew the attacker or had a relationship with him.

I have lived near this area for a little over a year. Sadly, within the last few days I have started carrying my pistol with me when I walk the dog in this area (yes I do have a concealed carry license).

It is pretty pathetic that the Seattle police, who are literally only a mile away cannot make more of a presence in this neighborhood.

I guess the police are too busy as there are ALWAYS 5-6 cop cars that are at the Starbucks at Westwood Village EVERY FREAKING NIGHT for at least an hour.

Nice to see where the priorities are.

Anyone who wants to bring concerns about this area, including a contention that police are seldom seen there, should come to Tuesday’s West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meeting, which always includes precinct leadership and Community Police Team officers. Way too often, something happens, people sound off in comments here, and despite the meeting being amply publicized, no one shows up to ask about it. And there is always more time for the meeting than there are questions brought up by the public. Conversely, there are also cases in which someone does show up, and information/action results (note the case of the 36th/Morgan nuisance house). The meeting’s at 7 pm Tuesday (April 16th), meeting room at the Southwest Precinct. The WSCPC is a group run by volunteers. Unfortunately they don’t have a website or I’d point you there, but their meetings always are on the third Tuesday. The precinct meeting room is right off its visitors’ lot – enter off Webster, just east of Delridge – TR

I agree with your comments about attending the meetings, but I would also think that with the ample statistics the SPB has regarding crime in the area, which all of us can see on their blog, THEY would do something proactive about it WITHOUT us having to come to THEM and BEG for more police coverage.

  • ghar72 April 14, 2013 (10:22 am)

TR, Is this also the meeting that there will be a rep from the Gang Unit present?

    • WSB April 14, 2013 (10:42 am)

Yes, but the guest never takes up the entire meeting. The “crime trends” and “anybody have questions/concerns” section always comes first.

Glad to hear it wasn’t just a random stabbing, but still awful, just the same.

I agree with both Ray, and WSB about attending meetings, but I’m going. I have invested alot time and money into my property, I pick up trash once a week on 21 st ave. sw. , I report illegal dumping, nuisance properties, suspicous activity, outside storsge of junk, unoperable cars, barking dogs etc. etc. etc. I try to keep positive in my efforts. The residents on my street for the most part have pride in ownership, there are a couple of eye sore properties, out of control kids/parents, but still a good neighborhood worth saving, and protecting

That apartment complex has had soooo many issues. Just recently a woman’s car window was shot out. The drug deals are so obvious. And the gang activity is shocking. I plan on being at the meeting and I hope to get some answers to these problems. I have lived in my house for quite a few years and I too have noticed a decline in safety. It’s difficult to understand why the police cannot patrol that problematic area… especially when their shop is less than a mile away.

  • ughhhh April 15, 2013 (10:17 am)

@jazzaria did you comment on the drive by shooting that hit a woman’s car window?? At that apartment complex???? Do you not live there???

Sorry, comment time is over.
