Two West Seattle Crime Watch updates: First, more details from police on last night’s holdup at the Admiral Baskin-Robbins; second, a theft that may have been an honest mistake, but whatever the case, the item’s owner wants it back. Read on for both:
First, a followup on the B-R holdup. Few details were available at the scene; we checked this morning with Seattle Police media-response unit Det. Mark Jamieson for additional details from the report.
He says the report indicates that one employee was in the store, doing some cleanup in the hour or so before closing time, when she noticed two people described as “black males, late teens” walk into the parking lot, then out of her view. Shortly afterward, she noticed another person of the same description do the same thing. She was sweeping the floor, without any customers in the store, when the same three all came in together. Thinking they were customers, she went behind the counter – then realized something was wrong: All three, she told police, were wearing black hoodies, and had placed bandannas over their faces. One pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her, telling her to open the cash drawer and then lie on the floor. She complied; after taking cash from the drawer and some of her personal items, including her cell phone, they left. She called 911 shortly thereafter. Police rushed over but didn’t find the robbers. Det. Jamieson says there’s no indication this is part of any local pattern – no similar stickups around here lately.
Now, the theft report, from Lupine:
Today, a red camper shell for my Ford Ranger pickup was taken from in front of my house on 24th ave sw. I don’t think it was intentionally stolen. There are several things on my block with “free” signs, including a double jogging stroller nearby so someone might have thought the truck shell was included. Whoever took it, please please please return it! I would so appreciate it!!
