Traffic reminder for tomorrow: Huge parade downtown

July 4, 2011 at 9:50 pm | In Not WS but we're mentioning it anyway, West Seattle traffic alerts | 3 Comments

In case you missed the repeated mentions here and elsewhere last week – tomorrow’s the day the Lions Clubs International Parade of Nations happens downtown, with road closures, detours, and bus-route changes. Here once again is the city’s official alert. No way to tell if it will cause any sort of domino effect like the motivational-speaker-event jam a month ago, of course, but we’ll be tracking.

  1. I know of a few companies that sent out emails last week notifying employees of the traffic issues it will cause. Primarily the 5th Ave shutdown, which is one of the larger routes for Metro busses. Expect long delays and leave for work extra early tomorrow or expect to be late to work.

  2. There is also a scheduled closure “eastbound, right curb lane just east of the Andover pedestrian bridge”, beginning AT 8AM.

I plan to be at work early, the morning will be a headache. Good luck to everyone!

  3. Traffic was a breeze this morning! Got to work 40 minutes earlier than normal and I left at the same time! AWESOME! :)
