Zippy’s Giant Burgers update: Potentially reopening midweek

As first reported here last Monday, Zippy’s Giant Burgers had to push back their plans of opening their new White Center location that day – but they may have just a few days left to go. Their exterior signs finally went up Friday, and West Seattle Blog/White Center Now contributor Deanie Schwarz was there.

Deanie says Zippy’s is expecting two key inspections on Monday and (probably) Tuesday, and whenever they get word they’ve passed, they’ll get ready to open the doors. She says they’ve also received their temporary liquor license, so they’ll have “classic, old-school canned and bottled beers, as well as wine” when they open at 9614 14th SW. Here are new interior photos:

Deanie adds, “The big booth is a refurbished 1970’s booth with attached slide-away table.”

While I wished they had picked a better location, I wish these guys the very best. The interior looks great.

A short walk from full tilt, proletariat and big al’s.. What better location?

Parking, seating, adult beverages – this is going to be great! Yeah, I wish they moved around the corner from my house ;) but beyond that, there will be plenty of errands that can be done near this location. The other one was only near, well nothing, and was harder to include in a busy day. Can’t wait!

Inside looks great. This will be really family friendly now with all of the extra seating space. Looking forward to the opening!

There are putting that area hood on the map! (in the right way that area hood needs to be noticed.) Cheers for them and I know their business will rock even more.

White Center is an Awesome location. I love the pick. CB, you must not be a home grown local. West Seattle and White Center go hand in hand. Thanks Zippys for adding another lively establishment to the area. Delicious burgers and then South Gate for some roller skating…. I feel like a kid again!

It’s an excellent location, just a short walk from Big Al’s, Full Tilt, El Paisano, Company, numerous grocers, and plenty more. It’s actually hard to think of a better W Seattle location for Zippy’s.

It’s basically around the corner from my house so WOO-HOO!!!!!! Two weeks ago my husband and I went on a date. We walked to Proletariat, across the street to Full Tilt for dessert, then around the corner for skating at Southgate. Then we walked home. We might have stopped at the Triangle Pub for karaoke but we were pooped.

I agree, White Center is becoming a great place to go. There are many new responsible businesses opening up in that area and they are proud of their business. If we could just get rid of the adult stores I think it would really change the feel. And I am not anti adult store, it just seems like they are not inline with the newer family friendly places opening up.

Very nice, way better than the old spot!

What on earth is wrong w/ their new location? It’s GREAT actually. Bigger space, parking, more foot/car traffic… I think it’s wonderful, but then I’m a regular White Center visitor. For those of us who live at the south end of the peninsula, it’s actually becoming more and more of a destination over the Junction, and certainly over Admiral. As good, (or better) food, drinks, entertainment, and some of the nicest business owners you’ll ever want to meet. Thank goodness we have such a vibrant place to go, that won’t break our bank accounts in most cases.

Anyhoo… sorry to hear that Blaine and crew are delayed on their opening, I know that’s gotta smart a little $$ wise when you’re trying to get up and running again. But we’re can’t wait for them to reopen in their new location. Thanks WSB for the pics, it looks really great inside!!

Oh, and lest you think I’m anti-WS business, that is hardly the case. We live in and love WS too. Just gets a little tedious not having as many excellent choices for food and drink, etc. in Fauntleroy which means driving to the Junction, or Admiral, and then fighting for parking, etc. when sometimes, we just want to have our meal and enjoy ourselves, and still be home in time to tuck our preschooler in bed by 8pm. :)

White center in west Seattle hand in hand? What planet are you from? Like I’ve said before, move zippys far away. Overpriced average food at best. It’s like you people in west Seattle have never tried a burger elsewhere. Lived here all
My life and never figured out why this is such a big deal

  • HT May 14, 2011 (6:57 pm)

    “Overpriced average food at best”.

Not even remotely accurate. Zippy’s burgers are the best, and not very expensive. Disagree? Name the alternative. Specifically for ‘Robert’, the super-sophisticated critic, I’ve lived all over the country, and West Seattle for the last 20 years. Zippy’s is the best I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait for them to re-open.

Sorry, comment time is over.
