August 18, 2007 at 1:09 pm | In West Seattle fires, WS breaking news | 6 CommentsThanks to everyone who wrote to make sure we didn’t miss this: The ATF presence yesterday was not incidental; the 4132 Cali fire was deliberately set. 1:45 PM UPDATE: The P-I has now posted an article as well, saying police don’t have any suspects yet. If anyone thinks they saw, or know, something about who was involved, call the arson hotline at 800-55-ARSON.

I figured as much.
Some people find this to be civil disobedence. The sad thing is, all they have accomplished is hurting people and keeping insurance comapnies in business.
Here’s hoping it can get rebuilt quickly and those who were injured are going to be ok.

I find it odd that arson would take place at midnight. Seriously, things are still going on at that time of night. Lots of people out. Maybe the bank camera caught someone sneaking around.
Hope they get the criminal.

Had the building site been hit by taggers? I’ve heard of arsons sometimes getting caused by kids who drop a cigarette while spray painting their names on new construction.

How horrible that people have no disregard for the safety and property of others to do something like this. I hope they find out who did it and punish them appropriately.

Maybe it was the owner? Insurance money – nudge nudge wink wink…..

My guess would be the developer. In these heady days of sub-prime mortgages and giddy news articles about how Seattle is “different” from the rest of the country, it’s easy to invest money that you don’t really have on the hope that you can pre sell some condos, finish the project with the money you receive, and enjoy the profits. However, if you don’t sell those condos fast enough, you could be in trouble…
