Thanks for highlighting this meeting! I check in with West Seattle Blog frequently to help keep tabs on happenings around the neighborhood.
Good news: Both City Light and Puget Sound Energy have confirmed for the event. Several King County departments will also be presenting about their experiences.
We are most interested in ideas for how the power, cable, telephone and other utility providers (including public entities like Seattle Department of Transportation and METRO transit) can better respond to the next disaster – whatever the cause.
We are also very interested in how we might help citizens to be better prepared to help themselves and their neighbors.
Because of Washington’s very decentralized governmental structures – King County alone has 39 cities, 32 fire districts/departments, myriad police agencies, and so forth – regional initiatives require broad coordination and cooperation. King County is in a position to convene the players in the region – at least the King County region – around a set of priority reforms.
I’m very much hoping that folks will come out to share their experiences, but especially their ideas.

Great to see Concilmember Constantine show up here. I’m a big fan of your work on the Council and pleased as punch to see that you keep an eye on community resources like this blog.
