AnonymousInactiveYou’re hardly intimidating, but I’m sorry I made the assumption that you are angry. It came off that way through your posts, but that was insinuation on may part and I apologize.

JoBParticipantif a tree falls in the forest and non-one hears it, does it still make a sound?
I have always thought it rather arrogant to assume that if a human ear isn’t there to hear it that the sound waves don’t exist.
Obama has never stopped telling the American public what he plans to do and how he plans to do it.
He keeps pointing out that he is not proposing new taxes for the rich..
he proposes not to renew the tax cuts that John McCain did not support when they were made.
If the tax cuts aren’t renewed, they expire.
He is not really raising anything…
Now i know it makes a better soundbite to talk about how Obama is raising taxes and spreading the wealth around…
but i don’t remember those same people shaking their heads and wondering who was going to pick up the burden of the tax breaks the rich got.. spreading the burden around.
and the deficit goes up.
Lately i wonder… Is anyone listening?
It would appear that many aren’t…
But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t keep saying it.
Choosing not to listen is a personal problem…
and not one that anyone can help you with.

GenHillOneParticipantI’m getting really tired of the “how will he pay for all of this?” question. While it’s not the ONLY way, one fairly big pot get’s overlooked pretty frequently. Let’s say it together –

acemotelParticipantOh, ha ha ha.
Sorry, NR, I did not know you are a flight attendant. Not to disparage flight attendants, who do a great job by and large ensuring people are buckled up, showing us how to evacuate the plane, selling drinks and snacks and reading the welcome and thank you scripts.
Except for reading scripts, if you can describe how being vice president is the same as being a flight attendant, I’ll take it back. Nothing personal intended; no reason to feel slighted. After all, there are thousands of flight attendants and only one vice president.
I think even you agree that we don’t expect our flight attendants to run the senate and get in with the senators and make policy decisions to make life better for everyone, ya know?

JoBParticipantFlight attendants are trained to do more than just waitress… and if you encounter trouble you will hope they learned their lessons well.
There are even flight attendants who can fly the plane.. but they are few are far between.

beachdrivegirlParticipantNR,
As long as McCain feels that the war needs to be continued we will be having an increase in our spending. The war is costing America billions and McCain has no plans to change it. I have stated that I do not agree with all the spending that Obama is planning; however, Obama’s tax increase (for the wealthy) is vital for America’s future. I also would like to ask you what you like about McCain’s economic plan?
Personally, I am nearly as concerned with McCain’s economic plan as much as I am concerned with his healthcare plan. Have you ever heard of the Gramm-Leach Biley Act??? This is the act that, imo, has caused the failure of many of financial institutions today. Basically, it was the beginning of the deregulation of our financial institutions.
You probably are wondering what this act has to do with anything?? Well, Senator Phil Gramm McCains’ top economic advisor until recently and he is the guy that McCain wants to name Secretary of the Treasury. Because of these irrational decisions that McCain is making in regards to his economy I do not trust him with my dollar nor my neighbors. We need someone with experience in increasing financial regulations. Obama is the only one that has this. (Palin did increase Wasilla’s date by nearly 2000% so she obviously is out of touch with economics and the Republicans financial conservative view.) Obama, while in the Illinois State Senate, brought the predatory lending to attention. ( I am sure you already know this though from reading his site in depth.) He also is credited with lobbying for higher regulations of these financial institutions. Furthermore, Obama has been saying for months that we must increase regulation. This was being said at the very time that McCain was saying that we have a strong economy. (http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/stateupdates/gG5Rzb; also see issues from Obama’s site. McCain is a little out of touch don’t you think??? So, to increase regulations, McCain is going to appoint Senator Gramm the very man who brought on the deregulations. And no firing the SEC Chairman is not a solution, its just that most American’s aren’t going to take the time to research where the real problem began, which is very unfortunate.
I truly do look forward to hearing from you why you (or any other McCain supporter) do support McCain’s economic plan? I doubt I will get any response though considering that I have never heard an arugmetn as to why McCain’s healthcare plan is better when asked?

GenHillOneParticipantAn interesting perspective on video:

I think we can all agree that this is an unprecedented time for our two-party system.

Please explain how the current and McCain borrow and spend plus endless war strategy is better than the tax and spend and PAYGO strategy the repubs keep saying the Dems use.
If you want to use examples from the airline industry that’s ok. Of course remember they can go bankrupt and shed debt every couple of years unlike your average citizen (or their employees).
The USA could go bankrupt but I suspect even the Any Rand objectivist wingnuts like Greenspan don’t want to contemplate that option.
October 27, 2008 at 5:56 pm #644617
JoBParticipantthere are still far too many Rand admirers in our political system…
It’s too bad our current batch of neocons didn’t outgrow her in maturity….
Perhaps they just haven’t matured yet.
