Its funny b/c Bush/McCain and their suppporters act like giving tax cuts to the wealthy increases job and gives money back to the US economy when this isnt the case at all. what really happens is that the wealthy put more money in the banks, get wealthier, the middle and lower class have to work harder, and our country ends up in more debt because we have more expenses then revenue coming in. Furthermore, the wealthy that our stashing there money, are stashing it in foreign markets/banks as well completly avoiding the US economy.Where as, if we were to give the middle/lower class tax cuts they dont stash their money, its like the rebate checks, they spend it. And they spend it not in foreign markets but the US economy/marktets inturn helping our economy. THis is why although I do not 100% agree with all the spending that Obama has on his agenda I am 110% behind his tax plan. its like Economics 101 all over again.

Just for anyone who cares, it was a conservative who called Sarah Palin *a fatal cancer to the Republican Party*. That tidbit is not referenced in the article you cite NR.

And your’re forgetting one of the most popular articles from WSJ :

*In the end the Palin candidacy is a symptom and expression of a new vulgarization in American politics. It’s no good, not for conservatism and not for the country. And yes, it is a mark against John McCain, against his judgment and idealism*

Obama, of course. Good find, bdg.

JT – Thank you for sharing, but that article was already referenced a couple days ago by WSMom.

BDG – That is an interesting hypothesis. I would be interested to know where you are getting the facts to confirm that belief.

Here’s a look at the differing health-care fixes:

BDG – Although 2 of my answers were in agreement with Obama, I came out in favor of McCain.

Nice link BDG! I’m not such an Obamabot- I got two McCain statements! I’m not counting the gay marriage question, on which Obama is the lessor of two essentially wrong answers, IMO.

Tonya – I don’t know how I missed your post earlier, but thank you. Sowell is to be respected and to insinuate that he is anything but extremely intelligent only illustrates ignorance. Unfortunately, I highly doubt your link will be followed, much less, read (at least by anyone who probably should – much like my links. LOL).

Here is an interesting link regarding Biden (thank you JenV for giving me the idea to look into V.P.s, btw). This particular link shows, not only the liberal bias that is so prevalent in our media (with the lack of coverage of this), but also points out how deceptive Biden truly is.

littlegreenfootballs is about the most conservative blog out there, for anyone who is still actually reading this drivel that passes for a thread. They actually make Faux News look “fair and balanced”. The fact remains – Biden is a highly intelligent person and at least actually knows what the VP does. I can’t honestly believe that anyone still supports Palin knowing that. It boggles the mind.

No one is going to change anyone’s mind- so NR, you go parrot whatever Faux News tells you to and Tonya42, you go plagiarize someone’s blog and post it here and we’ll all go to bed happy.

NR, intelligence doesn’t rule out ideological bias. And yes that works for both sides. Citing an op-ed by a smart person doesn’t make it any more worthy. It’s still just an opinion reinforced from their selected materials. Kind of like what all of us do here.

And praising the resident plagiarist doesn’t reinforce yours. Or maybe it does.

JenV, I keep wondering how come people arent making a bigger deal about Palin and not knowing what the VP does! She actually was confusing it with the majority leader in the Senate. Two completly different things. Pure idiocricy.

Secondly, I wonder how come people arent going after teh fact that while Palin was mayor of Wasilla. She managed to increase their towns debt by over 1966%! That is insane. infact, she managed to add roughly $4500 a debt to each Wasilla resident through her eight year term. This is not my definition of fiscally conservative.

If tax cuts for the wealthy stimulated growth and created jobs as George Bush claimed they would, we wouldn’t be in our current economic fix.

    that’s simple logic.

It didn’t work that way when Reagan did it either… and his little economic plan nearly busted small businesses here in the US.

McCain’s economic adviser who is going to help fix the mess is the same man who helped bring us the massive deregulation of the banking business that led to the practice of buying and selling residential mortgages which led to bonuses for brokers who sold subprime mortgages which could be sold for profit and transfer risk elsewhere… which led to a lot of people who could have qualified for regular mortgages buying subprime… which led to our current banking crisis.

so we are supposed to count on the guy who created the deregulation mess to fix it…

somehow i think that is a very bad bet.

But heck… don’t let reality get in the way of a good story.

Same as that Obama pie in the sky that all of us democrats are supposed to have fallen for.

Sorry kids, it ain’t the kool-aid…

it’s a good look at the future McCain wants for us all…

and the knowledge that anyone who is actually willing to hire the best experts to fix this.. you know.. men who are actually making money in this economic downturn… and understand what the problems are… has to be better.

but that would get in the way of a good story too… wouldn’t it.

Personally, I have a bowl of popcorn (with white truffle oil now) and am watching the Republican party implode. Palin is pointing out her differences with McCain (good team player or is that mavericky?) McCain trashing the Bush administration and the rest of the Republicans abandoning McCain.

    More popcorn please?

    zenguy..

McCain has more lives than the proverbial cat.

The phone calls to middle America calling Obama a terrorist aren’t the last straw.. though with reasonable men, they would be.

That other shoe is descending… and whatever it is.. it will create a stir.

Don’t gag on your popcorn when it hits.

We need you alive to vote…

    and well.. just because:)

Oh my gosh, apparently anger management issues run in the family…

“Angry because he was stuck in traffic, a man named Joe McCain — possibly the brother of the presidential candidate — placed a call earlier in the week to 911 emergency, ABC News affiliate, WJLA, reports.

The October 21 call went to the city of Alexandria, Virginia emergency operations. This is the transcript of the call:

    Operator: 911 state your emergency

Caller: It’s not an emergency but do you know why on one side at the damn drawbridge of 95traffic is stopped for 15 minutes and yet traffic’s coming the other way?

Operator: Sir, are you calling 911 to complain about traffic? (pause)

Caller: “(Expletive) you.” (caller hangs up)

The 911 operator, apparently, unnerved by use of the 911 emergency number to complain about bad traffic, called back the phone number that placed the call.

The operator reached a voice mail message that said, “Hi this is Joe McCain I can’t take this message now because I’m involved in a very (inaudible) important political project… I hope on Nov. 4th we have elected John.””

I almost posted this in the joke thread, but I figured it was too political :)

NR – I did read your OP link. That’s the one knock against Obama that I just don’t get. I get the whole “he palls around with terrorists” thing – fear tactics are standard practice in politics these days (albeit much more effectively and eggregiously used by the Republicans). I get the “Socialist” thing as well – again with the fear tactics. The average person doesn’t truly understand what Socialism means, but is confident it’s “evil.” Equating Obama with Socialism is just plain silly.

However, I just don’t get the “Who is Barack Obama argument.” People (and especially Repubs) are fond of saying they like his idea of change, but he’s “so vague” as to the specifics of his plan. I could see that argument early in the race with Hillary, but since that time he’s spelled out exactly what his plan is over and over again. Did you listen to him during all three debates or just tune him out until McCain started speaking? If you did listen objectively to all three debates I think you’d be hard pressed to make the claim that McCain gave more specifics about his plan for the country than Obama did. It’s just not the case.

I’m sure you’ve never been to the Obama website (you’d be “pallin’ around with terrorists,” but if you’re genuinely interested in Obama’s plan to fix the economy and turn this country around, I’d encourage you to check out this page: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/economy/

The overwhelming majority of economists in this country favor Obama’s plan and say he has a better understanding of economics. That’s fine if you want to base your vote on something other than economics, but I’ll take Obama’s specifics over McCain’s fear tactics any day.

villagegreen – I suggest you re-read the rest of my posts within this “drivel” of a thread. I specifically stated that I HAVE researched Obama’s website. I have looked at both side’s positions on the issues. I align and agree more with McCain.

JT – The reference to Thomas Sowell’s intelligence was in response to another poster insinuating that he wasn’t smart. Of course just because someone is smart, doesn’t mean they are right. I’ve never made that claim. I do, however, feel that it is beneficial to share articles, news stories, op-eds of interest from those who see things through conservative eyes. It levels the playing field a tad in this metropolis of liberalism we know as the WSB.

“… so NR, you go parrot whatever Faux News tells you to and Tonya42, you go plagiarize someone’s blog and post it here and we’ll all go to bed happy.” – JenV

Lovely JenV – By posting links to articles of interest on the conservative side, I am doing nothing more than yourself sharing a link to Huffingtonpost, MoveOn or DailyKos. And, you are mistaken to accuse me of plagiarism. That would be if I were to quote something someone else said without sourcing that quote or giving the true author credit. You know, like Joe Biden does. You don’t like what I write or link? Then don’t come back to this thread (it’s actually pretty simple).

    So, interesting articles for today:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122480790550265061.html

“The Joint Tax Committee reports that the bottom 60% of taxpayers with incomes below $50,000 paid less than 1% of the federal income tax in 2006, while the 3.3% with incomes above $200,000 paid more than 58%. Most of Mr. Obama’s tax rebates go to the bottom 60%. They can’t possibly be financed by shifting an even larger share of the tax burden to the top 3.3%” – Alan Reynolds

    From a forum favorite:

And for those who predicted that Palin would have 15 minutes of fame and then be forgotten:

GenHillOne – Please inform me of a time I have plagiarized.

Again, that is where you quote someone without sourcing the quote, or you use someone else’s words as your own. I have done that? If so, where?

You’re making a huge accusation here. Back it up with proof.

no one is accusing you of plagiarism, NR. Tonya42 currently holds that honor. I said you parroted what Faux News tells you. There is a difference, if you step back and actually read things.

I would have thought AReader held that title. Huh, I guess if you hold the same ideals as the majority here, you are forgiven certain faults.
