smitty — you’re on the right track; a number of years ago, the earlier mortality rate of men by heart attacks, alcoholism, car crashes, occupational diseases like black lung, asbestosis, etc. were attributed to their being the family provider (i.e. working long, stressful hours) as well as it being socially acceptable to drink, smoke, etc.
However, it’s not that clear cut; women die early during childbirth, for example, and there are often more civilians killed in war than soldiers. Some studies show that as more women assume more traditional ‘male’ roles that they also assume the risks that may lead to earlier death.

JiggersMemberwhuut… men as you say WANT to die before their wives do because? help me out, I’m hypathetically speaking here…maybe men can’t live up to their ability in bringing home the bacon? or maybe they aren’t happy with their spouses and there’s no other way out but to die? Maybe their wives give them to much stress and want to die. I don’t know. You know better than mewhy men WANT to die.
