Passed by the scene just after it happened and saw the man sitting on the curb with the driver (on her cell) and another driver who’d pulled over to help. Spun around the block as the first aid response arrived and after less than a minute they had the guy upright and walking over to their rig. I got a second look at the car that struck him and half of the windshield was crushed in. I can’t believe he survived without serious injuries.

Thank you for the info! I’ll be checking with SFD re: his condition.

Did it take place on the ridiculous unmarked pedestrian crossing?  That should be marked and a flashing light when someone wants to cross.  morning traffic constantly blocks it.  It’s so dangerous,

Yeah, the one with the CROSSWALK SIGNAL that drivers constantly ignore. When the walking person graphic shows, you look out for pedestrians. I know, crazy, right?

Hope the guy that got hit is ok. Sometimes, after the shock wears off, injuries can become more apparent.

As someone who used that crosswalk regularly it’s pretty dangerous. One car will stop. You start walking and have to be VERY diligent making sure the person in the adjacent lane also stops. In fairness though rarely do any cars stop for that crosswalk with a pedestrian waiting. You just have to wait until there are no cars and fast walk before then next wave arrives.

I need to make this comment. Many times, I see WSB putting information so wrong. The guy who was hit by a car is my friend’s husband. The driver was driving 45-55miles/hour, and didn’t look at the road, good thing that he stopped and didn’t drive away. My friend was hospitalized, and the doctors were shocked that he survived. He flew 5 feet above the car and 4 forward. The doctors were able to put his dislocated shoulder and the broken collarbone in place. His body was covered with hematomas; gladly, all organs are good, but the whole body is sore. He is a pretty muscular guy, and that’s exactly what saved his life. A long way therapy will be his new lifestyle.People look at the road and watch the speed limit.
