gburkeParticipantI got invited to my first passover seder and wanted to experience some of their food culture ahead of time but I can’t find anything in the stores like I’m reading about online. Anyone know a good place to buy stuff like Macaroons and ready to bake passover desserts? Safeway and those guys barely carry anything. Thanks!

SueParticipantThriftway usually has a small section.

AJPParticipantMercer Island QFC has everything and more!

gburkeParticipantEven I know Mercer Island is quite “Jewish”, in fact that’s where the seder is! But are you guessing it’s stocked because of it’s clientele or were you there and truly saw it! I’ve been burned by calling around and hearing “we’ve got lots” only to find it’s really nothing. D’oh!

HuindekmiParticipantMy co-worker, who is a very observant orthodox Jew, does most of his shopping either at the Mercer Island QFC or the University Village QFC. He was very happy to have found kosher lamb at the U-Village location!

gburkeParticipantWow, that’s terrific, I’ll definitely be heading over there soon. Thanks so much!

melissaParticipantPCC has quite a few Passover items. If you want an elegant and still fine for Passover dessert (as long as your hosts aren’t kosher), consider the macarons at Bakery Nouveau. No flour in ’em. PCC also has quite a few flourless cakes, as well. Just make sure there’s no leavening and you’ll be fine.

AJPParticipantThough I’m not Jewish, we are invited to a seder every year with our good family friends. I know the mom does a MI QFC run before the seder every year. So yes, I actually know it’s a place. :) The QFC in Westwood has a smaller Jewish section, but I have noticed they’ve stocked more lately in preparation for the season.
