Jason HowellParticipantTonight I got home and West Seattle smells like a cross between burnt plastic and pollution. Any idea what’s burning or causing the smell?

J242ParticipantI was just coming here to ask the same question. Was like poo with a tinge of berry or something.
Seemed to be ever-present as it was notable on Delridge and down in Westwood Village.January 17, 2019 at 8:46 am #938525
newnativeParticipant</sigh> you know the saying, “whoever smelt it…”

PonderosaParticipantThere have been a few complaints here in the past month or so, and I have also smelled a range of it as well–someone said burnt antifreeze, plastic also sounds about right, sweet smelling pollution.
WSB, do we have any air quality monitors in the area that might shed some light on this? I’m getting concerned this is something other than our regular diminishing air quality.

GracianoParticipantJust now as I was waking up our sidewalk I smelled something “sweet” kind of like a cleaning chemical smell. 1st thing I thought was it our Daphne Odora already but no it wasn’t a lilac like scent. ??? weird.
Usually we smell our neighbor burning garbage in their fireplace! :>(January 18, 2019 at 9:09 am #938666
krobertsParticipantWe’ve noticed it too, in Seaview. Our kids go to Fairmount Park Elementary and our son said kids have been complaining about it at recess.

imanonParticipantHi Graciano,
Right after I read your post I was walking along the water side of Beach Dr. and smelled something very flowery sweet but with a sharp edge to it. It turned our to be a kind of white witch hazel that I almost mistook for a privet, but of course it is the wrong time of year for a privet to be blooming. (Jan. 21) -
