KathyMParticipantI am planning a late summer wedding and trying to come up with ideas for a unique location in West Seattle. Probably about 60 guests in the late afternoon and evening. I’d love to hear ideas and experiences with some of the better known venues. I am especially looking for a wide range of ideas.
Thanks!

squareeyesParticipantI got married 1.5 years ago at the Sanctuary at Admiral. It holds a max of about 85 people so 60 is ideal. If that interests you, feel free to email me with questions at b_inquires at yahoo dot com and I can send you a link to some of the wedding photos. It’s not air-conditioned and was really hot that day/evening so my guests really appreciated the beautiful courtyard after dinner.

helihuParticipantWe used the Duwamish Longhouse and loved it. It’s affordable, unique, and beautiful. We had 100 guests and it was slightly crowded — fewer would be more comfortable. Parks and industry across the street for fun pictures. The facility manager was very helpful.

KathyMParticipantThank you SquareEyes … I am considering the Sanctuary and would love to see your pictures – and hear more about your experience. Good tip that it was hot and no air conditioning. I will email you.

KathyMParticipantThank you, Helihu! I hadn’t even thought about the Duwamish Longhouse, but what a great idea.

dhgParticipantWhile I love the Sanctuary idea, you might also want to consider the Fauntleroy community center. People often book the church across the street for the wedding, then cross to the center for the reception and party. Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes does the catering and they do a great job.

KathyMParticipantThank you for all the ideas! I especially like that they are so uniquely West Seattle. I am going to look at all of them – and still welcome other suggestions.

datamuseParticipantOur ceremony was at Seahurst Park in Burien–we rented one of the picnic shelters–and reception at Salty’s. We’d considered Camp Long but the lodge was just a bit too small, I think the capacity is 75 (we had 125 people). Also, if you’re serving alcohol, at Camp Long you need to get a permit and make sure the booze stays indoors.

seaopgalParticipantThe Dakota Place Park, at Dakota & California, looks like it would be a great indoor/outdoor venue for 60 people. I love the exterior & park space, but haven’t been inside remodeled building … photos are nice. I suppose parking might be an issue, but you might be able to swing a deal with First Lutheran across the street. Seattle Parks people are pretty easy to deal with and accommodating, banquet permit required for liquor. Google for better photos than you’ll see here: http://www.seattle.gov/parks/Reservations/dakota.htm

dobroParticipantKenyon Hall at 35th & Kenyon is a great spot for a function. Probably 80-100 capacity, kitchen facilities, grand piano, theater organ.
