So after putting up with the construction and noise and traffic revisions all summer, the repaving project is almost done. But I was wondering after all that time and money, why didn’t they pave the whole thing? The western side is the same old pavement, cracks and dips and everything. I can’t see why they wouldn’t paved 100% when they had the chance, considering all the work they did. Did they screw up and not tell us? Just wondering.

Please search the site for the copious amount of stories we’ve done on this (the words fauntleroy paving should do it). It is explained. Also look for a followup next week; I have an appointment to interview SDOT’s project manager on Tuesday.

I’m confused about it as well. When I’d been in touch with them about the project in the beginning, I was told that the entire roadway was going to be paved when they were done, and obviously it wasn’t. I’d be curious to see why they chose to do it this way (time, money, etc.) because I think it looks like crap, and has great potential for potholes to eventually form where the concrete meets the asphalt. If they were going to spend the time and money to do the project, I’m really shocked they didn’t just pave it all.
