I was going to hire Fitzpatrick & Ruiz but apparently, they have gone out of business. I know that Margaret Fitzpatrick passed away, but does anyone know what happened to the Ruiz half of the business? Hoping he has gone off on his own, perhaps under a different name…? Most of the other local upholsterers seem to have hit or miss reputations. I’m looking to have a couple of chairs recovered and some drapes made. Thanks for your suggestions!

Gabels in Ballard is amazing. Work is impeccable but can be expensive. I don’t think they do drapes, but you could always ask!

Calico Corners in Bellevue does both re-upholstery and makes drapes. Store is closed during virus outbreak but you might call them. They also come to yr. home. They have a website.

I’ve used them for over 20 years and their craftsmanship is outstanding. Have had furniture re-upholstered and drapes and curtains for my entire home made there.

Francisco Ruiz, owner of the shop, died in April 2020 after contacting Covid-19. He was only 50 years old.

Thanks, everyone. So sorry to hear about Mr. Ruiz. Just goes to show that COVID deaths are not imaginary as some would claim. Terrible.
