corrieMemberI’m looking for a new hairdresser but need someone who is good with thick, curly hair. I’ve had my hair butchered too many times or told I just need to flat iron my hair everyday from hairdressers who swore they knew how to cut curly hair.

JenVMembercorrie, I love Illusions. I have partially curly, super thick hair and was so sick of being told to flat iron it! They have always been able to give me a great cut which complements the curl. Everyone there is super nice, I usually go to Amy. They also have rockin good products for curls.

AlParticipantI go to Anne at Salon Rouge, corner of 35th/Morgan. She’s fantastic.

hammerheadParticipantSince I am not blessed with curly hair I have to sit a chair for 3hrs to get my hair curly. Well tomorrow I go in for my cut and color!!. Well I am sure I am just as picky as you might be corrie. Don’t want to much off ect. Again I recommend the Forsthye. They have been perming my hair for 7 yrs love the cuts afterwards. lol

AlkiRagdollParticipantCorrie — I was cursed to be born with a head of very frizzy curly hair on top, and wavy along the sides… I have lived in WS for 15 yrs, and not found anyone who really knows curly hair. I go to Maria at Belli Capelli (California near Charlestown). If you find someone who really knows curly hair, please post who, what & Where.

dollyMemberI recently had to make a change and I have very thick, very curly and frequently frizzy hair. I just had a second cut by Sabrina at Sublime Salon. I know it is not W Seattle, but not to difficult to get to downtown. She understands since she has very curly hair, herself.

dollyMemberI should add that both cuts have been nice. Good shape and texture.

corrieMemberThanks to everyone for all the suggestions! My hair is complete overgrown, basically I’m looking like a huge bush right now, so I will have to go in soon.

banglesMemberI heard Liza at Vain is fabulous but not accepting new clients. The Deva Curl products they sell are great for curly hair. Even if you can’t get in, stop by and pick some up if you get a chance.
I am looking for someone good to cut my hair and haven’t found anyone yet. So irritating.

rockhillsMemberI went through the same search last year! I ended up at Illusions, certainly the best cut I’ve had in the 2 1/2 years I’ve lived in Seattle. But, then, my standards are: Can I let it air-dry, run something through to smooth the ends, and not look like I crawled out of a cave?
