White van went down our street as I was coming back home after a cancelled venture out to Capitol Hill I was surprised to see it was parked in my driveway at the end of the street. Steak-somethin-or-other business name faded on the sides. Gruff guy at my door quickly came back to the van as I went to park and asked if I liked steaks. I said “no, thanks” and he asked again as he got into the van to leave, and I said “no” again. He quickly started up and and drove off. Couldn’t see tags quickly enough, sorry.

It may be a legit (tho as mentioned historically a poor quality) meat business but I don’t like it. Anybody see him around Belvedere/Admiral area today?

I would NEVER buy from one of these vendors. You have NO idea how old the product is, or if it has been properly refrigerated / frozen during the time it has been on their truck.

One of the drivers of a truck like that called out to my husband the other day while he was walking the dogs. Really tried to sell him on the idea of buying his meat. Thank goodness he’s smarter than that and sent him on his way!

That guy pulled over when I was out cleaning my car the other day and asked if I wanted to fill my freezer. Um. No thank you. Not buying your sketchy meat.

That’s really gross, and can’t possibly be legal…can it? Doesn’t the FDA have restrictions on how meat must be stored, labeled and sold?

Might even be stolen. Just never know.

Glad to hear folks around here have high meat standards!

I was never worried so much about that as whether the guy was real or just scouting houses to bust into.

But I guess who would need to rob a house though when you’ve got a truck full of dubious animal flesh to peddle on the street?
