andreaParticipantMcCain camp tries to keep reporters out of Palin meetings with foreign dignitaries…yes, they are afraid!
September 23, 2008 at 8:14 pm #640435
GenHillOneParticipantIt sounds like CNN got (rightfully) bent out of shape on that andrea … so first MSNBC and then CNN/Headline … making friend all over aren’t they?!
September 23, 2008 at 8:27 pm #640436
JanSParticipantIrukandji…give me a call, we’ll work it out :)
September 23, 2008 at 9:11 pm #640437
ZenguyParticipantThere is a movement now by reporters to boycot Palin at the UN since they are not granting any interviews. Finally the press is playing their appropriate role in this country.
September 24, 2008 at 1:23 am #640438
JanSParticipantwell, they seemed to have fixed that boycott, sorta…coincidentally, this information came out today….
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/23/meetings_with_foreign_leaders.html
I wanted to copy and paste the list, but it was just too long….hmmm….

“NEW YORK (CNN) — Frankly I have had it, and I know a lot of other women out there who are with me on this. I have had enough of the sexist treatment of Sarah Palin. It has to end.
She was in New York on Tuesday meeting with world leaders at the U.N. And what did the McCain campaign do?
They tried to ban reporters from covering those meetings. And they did ban reporters from asking Gov. Palin any questions.
I call upon the McCain campaign to stop treating Sarah Palin like she is a delicate flower who will wilt at any moment.
This woman is from Alaska for crying out loud. She is strong, she is tough, she is confident. And you claim she is ready to be one heartbeat away from the presidency. If that is the case, then end this chauvinistic treatment of her now. Allow her to show her stuff. Watch Brown call on the McCain campaign to ‘Free Sarah Palin’ »”

“But Sarah Palin’s performance in the tiny vignettes of unscripted dialogue in which we’ve been allowed to see her has been nothing short of frightening — really, as I said, pity-inducing. And I say that as someone who has thought from the start that the criticisms of her abilities — as opposed to her ideology — were much too extreme. One of two things is absolutely clear at this point: she is either (a) completely ignorant about the most basic political issues — a vacant, ill-informed, incurious know-nothing, or (b) aggressively concealing her actual beliefs about these matters because she’s petrified of deviating from the simple-minded campaign talking points she’s been fed and/or because her actual beliefs are so politically unpalatable, even when taking into account the right-wing extremism that is permitted, even rewarded, in our mainstream. I’m not really sure which is worse, but it doesn’t really matter, because with 40 days left before the election, both options are heinous.”

“COURIC: Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? … Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?
PALIN: Ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy– Oh, it’s got to be about job creation too. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions.”
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4478156n
“COURIC: You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?
PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land– boundary that we have with– Canada. It– it’s funny that a comment like that was– kind of made to– cari– I don’t know, you know? Reporters–
COURIC: Mock?
PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that’s the word, yeah.
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.
PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our– our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They’re in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia–
COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We– we do– it’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is– from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to– to our state.”

RSMemberWow. That is terrible. I take my response from the cinematic classic Billy Madison:
“what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”
September 25, 2008 at 8:06 pm #640443
ZenguyParticipantShocking, truly shocking! RS, love the quote.
September 25, 2008 at 8:16 pm #640444
acemotelParticipantOMG ignorance in all its blazing glory
Along those lines, McCain hadn’t even read the Paulson 3-page report until last Tuesday, four full days after its publication. (he hadn’t had a chance to see it “in writing”)
where are the conservative apologists now?
September 25, 2008 at 8:22 pm #640445
GenHillOneParticipantWhen you watch the first part of the Palin interview (on economy) you can literally see her look down at notes. You can see Katie glance down there once too. Katie looked so irritated. I’m trying to find the clip of them walking and talking about Fannie/Freddie…
So I’m guessing that McCain-Palin camp isn’t loving CBS now between Katie and Dave. Let’s count who has “done them wrong” to date – MSNBC (by default, CNBC and NBC), CNN (by default, HeadlineNews), CBS. Do we think the McCains still like ABC after The View? Don’t know. They still have Fox though.
September 25, 2008 at 8:28 pm #640446
GenHillOneParticipantHere it is…this includes WSMom’s link above, but the first minute and a half has the Fannie/Freddie…pause, um, pause, repeat.
September 25, 2008 at 8:45 pm #640447
acemotelParticipantI can’t get that video to load up…..is it being scrubbed?
September 25, 2008 at 8:49 pm #640448
inactiveMemberMs. Northern Exposure is the Stepford candidate. There is, was, and never will be any there there.
The look on Couric’s face at somewhere @2:22?
Priceless.
Thanks for all the links peeps!
September 25, 2008 at 8:54 pm #640449
GenHillOneParticipantI don’t think so ace – I just checked mine and WSMom’s…I do think it’s interesting though that I can’t find the complete Part 1 on CBS. Maybe I’m just missing it, but they all seem to be clips.
September 25, 2008 at 9:03 pm #640450
acemotelParticipantdang. I can get all the videos except part 1 of 2.
ETA: found this:
http://tinyurl.com/3h6hdhMaybe it’s the same part 1? It ends with “well, I’m just gonna have to find some and bring em to ya…..” (speaking of instances where McCain was for regulation……..I won’t hold my breath…..)
September 25, 2008 at 9:27 pm #640451
GenHillOneParticipantYes, that’s the same as the link I posted, ace! Don’t know why the other didn’t work for you, sorry.
September 25, 2008 at 9:28 pm #640452
acemotelParticipantThanks GHO for checking! Looks bad either way. pathetic.
September 25, 2008 at 11:26 pm #640453
addParticipantDarn, I missed the interview when it aired, but watching these clips was really something. I actually felt uncomfortable watching her dance around the questions and then disgusted when she slipped in her snarky comments about Obama. Ugh!
September 25, 2008 at 11:36 pm #640454
beachdrivegirlParticipanti watached one of the two clips…honestly i think my five year old niece could do a better interview than Palin.
September 25, 2008 at 11:41 pm #640455
CaitParticipantHA! Katie Couric’s face at the 2 and a half mark: “*****, please.”
September 26, 2008 at 12:58 am #640456
addParticipantWhat’s the buzz been about how the interview went? (i.e, are people saying that Katie was too mean to Sarah?) I haven’t had time to do my usual surfing…
September 26, 2008 at 1:14 am #640457
ZenguyParticipantOMFG, I just watched it…wow, that was soooo bad. Like a moose in the headlights…ok, that even made me laugh
September 26, 2008 at 3:36 am #640458
JoBParticipanti think Garrison Keillor is right..
we should be sorry for her… it’s certainly painful to watch.
