    The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes and activities. Our school-age care programs provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.

    We are currently looking for a talented and compassionate individual for the School-Age Child Care Director at Schmitz Park Elementary School supported out of Hiawatha Community Center in West Seattle.The School-Age Childcare Director is responsible for planning and directing before/after school child care and summer day camp programs for youth ages 5-12 years old; working with Community Center staff to coordinate events, programs and community outreach; support other ARC programs within the community center by being a part of planning, marketing and coordination of childcare program events and projects.

    Basic duties:

    •Develop programs that are developmentally age appropriate and culturally relevant

    •Establish relationships of mutual trust and good communication with program participants, their families, community center staff and schools

    •Comply with all Department of Early Learning Licensing requirements

    •Oversee program staff including scheduling and on the job training

    •Prepare reports and perform other administrative tasks, attendance records, program applications and fees

    •Provide safe environment by maintaining orderly, clean, and appealing facilities; competent in emergency preparedness; removing known safety hazards; ensuring staff have current CPR/First Aid certification, and any other required or applicable credentials

    Minimum requirements:

    •Must be 21 years of age or older

    •Have completed a minimum of 45 or more college credits or combination of one-third clock hours and two-thirds college credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Social Work, other child-related field including, but not limited to: art, music, and dance relevant to school-age children; recreation or leisure time activities, physical education, education, psychology, social services, home economics, or nutrition.

    •Have worked in child-related programs for at least two years

    •Have supervisoral and/or mentorship experience of 3-5 years

    •Experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships

    •Have a valid WA state driver license upon hiring must provide driving history record from DOL

    •Documentation of current Red Cross First-Aid/CPR certification, HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens education and training, a valid King County food handlers permit, Washington State driver’s license, have cleared a TB test; 20 hours STARS training or documentation of exemption

    •Must successfully complete a background check

    Hours:

    •Full time, 40 hours a week between the hours of 6:30am and 6:30pm

    •Full Benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision, 401k, Paid Time Off and Employee Assistance Program

    Salary: 17/hourly and up DOE
