charlabobParticipantOMIGOD We’re too old—old as dirt — we’ll send our kids and dogs :-) Or you can just ignore us if we happen to be in the same place…I am KIDDING!
OTOH that may be why people talk to us; we seem like unthreatening geezers? If I were “people” I’d certainly talk with NewRes or Erik before I talked to me.
I’ve always had friends of all ages — same thing here, though many are my friends from far away— we sort of wound up here. My last birthday party (and no I’m not telling you which it was) had guests from 14 – 96. And they all talked to each other.
I do have to say there is more age “segregation” in Seattle than in other places I’ve been and less race and class segregation. I was kind of surprised when we organized a “geezers” brunch when WSB socializing first began and only geezers came.

JanSParticipanthey, guys…can I come? I only walk like Chester in Gunsmoke sometimes ;-) Elgrego, my age…if 60 is the new 40, I’m 41…
I am dying to get out again. I drove for the first time today, and it’s only been 3 weeks since the surgery (for those not in the know, I had a hip replacement on May 13). I will forego any of the good drugs so I can have some beer…lol…
and Erik…you didn’t seem so introverted to me, but we have something in common to talk about, so it was easier, I guess…
June 4, 2008 at 2:27 am #626012
JanSParticipantand, Charla, lie about your age like I do – lol…well, I don’t exactly lie, I just don’t come right out and say it…besides, age is in our heads some of the times…not how we really feel inside…’tis but a number…:)
June 4, 2008 at 2:29 am #626013
charlabobParticipantOK, if 60 is the new 40, bob is 41 and I’m 42. If 60 is still 60, I’m 42 and bob is 61. hehehehehelol:-)
June 4, 2008 at 2:35 am #626014
ErikParticipantAre we talking mental or physical age?….19 and 46. hehehe
And Jan, as for being introverted/extroverted I can swing wildly depending on the circumstances. Lately I’ve forced myself into the dating world, kicking and screaming, but it had to be done.lol

RSMemberOkay, next Saturday! The 14th! BPP! I’ll tear myself away from Georgetown to get there early. And age- we’re 28 and 31. Yay!

JanSParticipantErik…it took me 4 1/2 years after my divorce to date…and it’s still a foreign concept. I think it’s the word that gets me..it has so many expectations. I’ve always preferred “getting together” or “hanging out” with someone of the opposite sex. Of course, I was with the ex for 23 years…so it took a while to adjust my attitude re: men – lol.
glad you’re making the effort..
so do we show up at BPP with a book, and everyone sit at the bar and strike up conversations? lol…
yes, House…are you with us? and no poly-tics…I like that..:)
June 4, 2008 at 3:59 am #626018
JanSParticipantand, Erik? watch what you say on here…”swing wildly”? hmmm…it takes less than that to get a rumour started on here…hehehehe…
(psssttt…pass it on – lol)

AnonymousInactiveJan, you should definitely do that. Line the bar!
June 4, 2008 at 4:12 am #626020
TheVelvetBulldogMemberI’d love to hang out with y’all – I’ve met most of you, and I’m 40, so I’m sort of in-between everyone. But here’s the thing: I don’t drink. I’ve been avoiding going to BPP even though it’s in my neighborhood because I didn’t think they’d want someone hanging out NOT drinking. I mean, that’s how they make their money right? So is it ok for me to go and take up a bar stool, knowing full well that I’m not going to spend more than $2.50 on a soda?
June 4, 2008 at 4:21 am #626021
ErikParticipantTVB – I’d love to see you again, didn’t get around to chatting with you at the last get-together.
June 4, 2008 at 4:25 am #626022
TheVelvetBulldogMemberErik – give my regards to Larry the dog! And what say you re: the $2.50 barstool?
June 4, 2008 at 4:27 am #626023
elgregoMemberI’ll plan on being there. BPP was allowing dogs last time I was there too… anyone else thinking of bringing their surrogate child?
June 4, 2008 at 4:28 am #626024
charlabobParticipantI think BPP might have become stricter about service dogs…last time we were there, Tuxedo (one of my favorites) wasn’t there but his posse of people was.
June 4, 2008 at 4:31 am #626025
elgregoMemberI was there Sunday to watch the Mariners lose (again) and there were three dogs there at one point.
June 4, 2008 at 4:34 am #626026
ErikParticipantTVB – I’m sure between the rest of us we’ll make up for your $2.50 barstool. Don’t let that stop you from coming.
June 4, 2008 at 5:44 am #626027
SueParticipantTVB, I don’t drink either – maybe we can both go and make fun of all the drunks. ;)
June 4, 2008 at 5:45 am #626028
JanSParticipantTVB….I’m sure they wouldn’t discriminate…I think that’s what I love about that place. I’ve been there when all I was drinking was diet coke…and didn’t feel bad about it. We’ll just call you the DD :)
June 4, 2008 at 2:55 pm #626029
hopeyParticipantOf course EVERYONE is welcome!
Does that include this almost-40 conservative democrat who sometimes has trouble socializing in groups? (I’m much better one-on-one.) charlabob, I’ll bring my service-dog-in-training labradoodle… :D
June 4, 2008 at 5:14 pm #626030
JanSParticipanthopey…we’d love to meet you…:)
June 4, 2008 at 5:58 pm #626031
AnonymousInactivehopey – Please come!!!!
June 4, 2008 at 6:12 pm #626032
rs261Memberwho knows maybe I’ll show up too. Is there a time or just “all day” on the 14th at BPP? I would definitely make fun of the person who opened and closed the bar then :-)
June 4, 2008 at 6:17 pm #626033
AnonymousInactivers261 – I hope you come too!
I think JenV was thinking of going early, maybe around 3 or 4?
What does everyone think about that?
