    mary:

i live in the same area.

two years ago, in the middle of the day, when i was home babysitting a plumbing contractor, i was rummaging in the trunk of my car while looking for some tool or another. a guy in a comcast truck with a cherry-picker on it blocked my driveway, got out, and started walking around the immediate vicinity pointing his P-51 mod-u-la-tor at the sky, trees, birds, houses, squirrels, whatever. (think of marvin the martian, only more neanderthal.) to my utter amazement, he walked right up my driveway, straight at the open garage door, and looked inside. i honestly believe he had the intent to enter my house.

at which point i yelled (as i watched in astonishment from the bowels of my car), “hey!

he looked startled, but automatically responded with, “comcast. looking for signal leaks.”

i said, “i don’t care who you are. i didn’t invite you here.”

he responded with, “comcast! looking for signal leaks!”

then, sensing my disapproval, he proceeded to climb into my neighbor’s yard.

i said, “they have dish network.”

he looked puzzled, as if pondering the idea of wireless communication.

ha! just kidding. he was obviously stupid.

i said, “you don’t have any right to enter my property without my request. you’re not a public utility.”

he said, “am too. public utility. comcast!”

i said, “no, you’re not. besides, all of the cable feeds on this block come from the city-owned alley. up there. you can roam around up there all you want.” and i pointed.

there’s no way to get there from my street. you have to drive around the block. big hill. lots of brambles.

he got the last word, though. as he walked to the driver’s side of his truck, he said, “comcast.”

    man, i hate those guys.

[this story has been embellished slightly, but it’s mostly true.]

Thanks for the laugh! I love that story; I’m starting to think it’s like Vincent D’Onofrio’s alien in a man suit in Men in Black or something!

8:45?? That’s ridicules!! Way too late. I used to be courteous when people came to my door, not any more. I’m sick of scammers. Now, I let my dogs bark out of control and scream throught the door I’m not interested! Comcast is really making a bad name for themselves.

This happened to me last nite. (Westwood). Dog was barking at the door I didn’t hear a knock so I thought it was nothing. Then when I turned down the radio I heard a faint knock. Now the dog was whimpering like he does when our neighbor comes over so I answered. It was comcast. (around 8:10pm) He said he could lower my rate, I was in the middle of making dinner so I told him I would think about it. That was that. Then tonight around 8:45 same faint knock. This time I just let the dogs go ballistic and ignored it.

He did have a badge and a card last nite, but I don’t want to answer the door at almost 9 pm when I am home alone, even with two mean sounding dogs. Get a clue Comcast!

i was hollering in various other fora about 5 years ago when city council inked the 10-year deal with comcast.

maybe people – and city council – will listen in 2016 when their contract is up again.

or maybe someone will run fiber optic to the neighborhoods and we can have a real choice for a change.

I got fed up with the seemingly frequent screen freezing and trying to cancell service is challenging (this rant is in another thread). But it gets better, I cancelled service on September 21st, the rep promised to mail me boxes to return the equipment, on September 28th I receive a voice mail telling me that if I don’t return the equipment by Saturday Oct 1st, it will start costing me $$. Have the boxes arrived to return the equipment? No they have not – so I placed yet another call to Comcast – the rep says those calls aren’t supposed to start for 3 weeks. Do they know what they are doing?? I don’t think so.

Sounds like the same guy just rang our doorbell (Westwood), husband answered the door and when I heard him say comcast I told my husband no, I saw the posting on the blog. I didn’t read the thread before, just read the title. The guy met the same description and started the same line as original poster however he took no from my husband and probably also heard me in the background…

@Franci… When I cancelled I told them if they wanted the boxes they had to come get them so they set up a courier during a few hour window which I ended up having more pressing things to do and left so they set up another tighter window of time to my convenience ;o)

@KACBAC… Wish I had thought of that! Well the boxes are here now, so I’ll pack em up in the morning and send them off. :)
