HalynParticipantAfter 3 years in West Seattle, I finally broke out of my Luna Park Cafe, Matador, and Zeek’s rut to try a couple of new places. Jak’s was one of them. (The other was Circa, which requires it’s own Rave.)
I loved Jak’s. I forgot to get the name of our server, but she was awesome. The perfect blend of attentive and don’t-bug-us. We ordered a bottle of wine and two appetizers. I loved the spinach dip, with it’s huge portion of crostini. The bacon wrapped scallops were really tasty, but the portion (4 scallops) seemed a bit small for the price. When we ordered dinner, my husband asked for a soda to be brought with the meal, and our server remembered to bring it. This has never happened to us.
And that dinner…!! I ordered the Salmon Oscar off the special menu with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. I love garlic mashed potatoes. I took one bite, then a bite of the salmon. After that taste of the salmon, I abandoned the potatoes. No way were mere potatoes going to take up valuable stomach space and keep me from enjoying perfectly cooked, almost translucent, tender, sweet, lightly charred salmon on a bed of crisp-tender asparagus. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a meal so much. My husband’s filet served with duck and sitting on an au jus soaked crostini was also marvelous.
Jak’s isn’t cheap, but for a special occasion, or just a night when you feel like something special, it is worth every penny.

KBearParticipantJaK’s isn’t cheap, but you get salad, vegetable and potato for what other steak houses charge for the entree alone.

JoBParticipantI took my sister and her husband there when they visited last summer and we had an outstanding meal..
exactly what they wanted after an Alaskan cruise… steak and potatoes done right.
we also took them to Circa before the cruise..
but i think we enjoyed that more than they did
with all the great choices…. they stuck to what they know .. fish and chips
Some places just seem to get better and better at delivering consistently great food. I can’t say enough about either place.

dgirlMemberWe recently took a California visitor to Jak’s for a special dinner. He was bowled over! He had been to Ruth Chris a few days before and stated that Jak’s was “much better and much cheaper”. Aren’t we West Seattle folks lucky??!!

jellisMemberI’ve only been once…for breakfast and what an awesome breakfast it was. The waffle, bacon, and eggs were beyond yummy. Plus they have $1 Mimosas. I will have to test those next time, solely for research purposes!
