Tonight about 9pm, I was in line at Westwood Target waiting to pay. A couple people in front of me, there was a young man in uniform who had just gotten back from a tour of duty. The gentleman in front of him shook his hand, thanked him for his service and proceeded to buy his family’s groceries and told him Merry Christmas and thank you for his service and that it was the least he felt he could do for the young man’s service to his country.

I just wanted to say thank you to both men. This scene warmed my heart and reminded me of the true meaning of the holiday season. You made my holiday and have truly inspired me.

It was beyond heartwarming. Myself and the woman in front of me were both holding back tears and I’m no crybaby! :-). I will never forget it.

it’s amazing how many acts of generosity quietly occur around us with no fanfare and no news coverage.

and how much they affect those who witness them.

    a great lesson anytime…

but especially true this holiday season

I love West Seattle as well. :-). Thanks for giving me a platform to share, WSB. I really wanted to share because it really touched me and I think we hear so much negative in the news daily, that it’s really refreshing to know about the good things too. There really are good people amongst us. The soldier had older children who witnessed this as well. I hope it not only made them feel proud if their father, but will maybe have a lasting impression on them.
