Not really West Seattle, but you can buy it here. Has anyone else tried this bread? It’s amazing! Super healthy and super delicious. And the story behind the owner is nothing short of inspirational. YUM!

It’s our only sandwich bread. Kid LOVES it! We usually opt for the red one. Still haven’t tried the raising bread, though.

I’ve seen it at Costco, among other places, though haven’t bought it yet. I’m curious about the Sin Dawg, which I recently spotted (also @ Costco). Looks like a hearty, tasty treat.

Do yourself a favor, stay away from the Sin Dawg. Its like crack for adults. It comes in a 2 pack, you will want to eat both, in a single sitting!!! We had never heard about Daves until the NY Times ran a story on Dave, and his bread a few months ago. We went to PCC and bought a loaf. Totally yummy stuff and a great story too boot. Go to his web site and watch the video about his life, you really want to root for a guy like that.

we tried the Sin Dawg this morning. It’s incredibly dense, and sweet – but still tastes “whole grain healthy” so you don’t have to feel too guilty eating a cinnamon roll. Morgan St. T-way has the Sin Dawg, as well as a good variety of the regular breads.

Discovered this at Metropolitan Market (WSB sponsor) some months back (and as noted, it is available a variety of other places), and as the kids said at some point along the line of slang development, it is TEH BOMB. Especially the seediest variety. Best sandwich and toast fodder on the planet. Closest thing that flour-utilizing bread can get to Ezekiel (the all-sprouted bread which has been around a million years) IMO.

They had a booth at Folklife in the sustainability section – The Teenager and I walked through long past the time that Mr. Dave himself was apparently there. I would probably have stood in line for an autograph.

Rant to HelperMonkey for posting this as it was already hard enough to get my KillerBread fix at Thriftway before it sells out. Anyone who is sensitive to wheat but not gluten-intolerant should try Dave’s flourless bread. T’way just started selling the Sin Dawg and it is amazing (try microwaving it for 15 – 20 seconds.) Hope Dave develops a cinnamon raisin bread that can be toasted.

I am a HUGE fan of Dave’s. The powerseed is one of my all time faves. It’s either that or the honey whole wheat from Great Harvest. I also agree, the story behind Dave’s is pretty awesome.

I’ve not tried it, but TR mentioned Ezekials non-flour, which is what I usually get and that’s no-flour.

So, Dave’s line is flourless? Or just one type of it is? Good to know if it is. There just aren’t that many to choose from it seems and few stores carry the flourless so I end up making special trips just for the bread. Worth it though. It toasts up so crunchy and dense and is so good for me. :) Love that. Yum.

WSDood — no, the entire line is not flourless, just one type and it seems harder to find than the others (altho they all seem to sell quickly.) I am a little confused tho, cuz the bag I have and the title on one part of the website says ‘flourless sprouted wheat bread’ but the specific website page for that loaf, incl. the graphic of the bag, says ‘sprouted wheat bread’. That may explain why I couldn’t find ‘flourless’ last time. Not sure if this is equivalent to Ezekiel Bread, so check out the ingredients:

I don’t have a loaf in front of me, but the “sprouted grain” is the same, though all of the flakes, sprouts and seeds probably are different. The other brand I pick up is Healthy Way “20 Loaf”.

Of these two, I prefer the Ezekiel’s…but they are very similar. So, I think “Sprouted” wheat” or in the other’s “sprouted” grains is the ke phrase which indicates that instead of flour, sprouted something is used. How’s that for a technical analysis of bread? ;)

Yum. I need toast with cream cheese and apricot preserves. RIght now. WIth a glass of light chocolate Silk soy milk, fyi.

I do not like nutty wheat bread in most cases, but this stuff ROCKS!

Dave’s is the absolute best. I like the yellow one and the sprouted one best. Occasionally I will accidentally somehow end up with a load on delivery day and it is like heaven. Hard to believe something so great can also be happy. Dave is from Portland!!

I never heard of this stuff before this thead. Just picked up a pack of Sin Dawg at Costco. OMG, it’s awesome! I didn’t need to know how good this stuff is, or that I can buy it at Thriftway. :)

I am sad to report that Amazon Fresh has 4 types of Dave’s Killer Bread (don’t see the Sin Dawg or Flourless at this time, though). I just have to try it after reading this thread.

I shouldn’t give this away …. but watch the Fred Meyer Sunday ads; they sometimes have Dave’s on sale at about half price.

OK folks, after all the hoopla given to this topic I decided I HAD to try it, so I sent my husband out to the Morgan St. Thriftway to get some. He calls with a confused sound in his voice, “You said Sin Dawg right? It’s not much of a loaf…more of a ROLL”. I pull up this post and tell him, “Just get it, THEY say it’s good!” When he comes home, I am more than curious to see this thing that has created such a stir. Interestingly, it looked a bit like a sea cucumber that had been rolled on the beach and was covered with sand, etc. To make matters worse, it looked to be oozing some dark and gooey mess! Again I consult the Mighty Oracle, my name for the WSB, and after cutting it in half, I microwaved it for 15 seconds. I had my Bumble and Brown ready, just in case it needed a little help, but to my delight, it was PERFECT! Holy Chupacabra folks, this is magnificent! But let’s be real, they say this one roll contains 8 servings- for me it was only 2. Thanks for introducing me to this great product all! Since introducing us to Claycamp’s amazing bacon several years ago, I have learned that if CJBoffoli recommends it, it will be good. Now I’ll have to keep my eyes out for more of your recommendations too!

Oh, like I needed some other food to obsess over… QFC at Westwood carries it and so far, my favorite is the the Good Seed. Oh, it is what bread should be. It is a beautiful thing.

He was one of the local morning shows last week (Good Day or something like that?) being interviewed and he really seems like he has an interesting story to tell.

Although all I REALLY want is more of his bread.

Yeah this is the best bread ever hands down!!! Guess I’m a little partial to the bread since my boyfriend works for the company!!! But it really is great bread that everyone should try. And actually good for you :) As for the stores in West Seattle.. Metro Market, PCC, QFC’s, Thriftway and watch for Safeway’s soon. Not only is DKB awesome but so is West Seattle! We live here too :)

I was in the Costco bread aisle earlier this week, frantically searching for the sprouted-grain Squirrelly Nut Bread I usually buy, to no avail! I gathered that brand (forget the name… Silver something?) has been replaced with Dave’s, so I relented and ponied up the extra $2 per package for it.

I hate to admit it, but I like it better! (It tastes slightly sweet to me, and the slices are thinner in a nice way.) Darn that Dave for making such killer bread…

the bread was on sample at costco yesterday..

i nearly bought it then realized it would take us months to eat my way through two loaves….

am going to go look for the “sea cucumber” at thriftway instead:)
